Exotic single shot shotguns

Those simplexes are very nice

I bet the 10 gauge “canardier” was a handful, bet it has a long barrel though

Actually there is or so the CO's I worked with told me? If a CO determines in his estimation that your firearm is in unsafe working condition they can seize the firearm and a few I worked with me told me a gun without a working safety falls in the category of a gun in disrepair.

There is no legal requirement for a firearm to have a safety to hunt in ontario. COs often have no clue of actual laws. Ive been held up by one who thought a 10ga was illegal for hunting turkeys. I called my lawyer while he tried to get ahold of his superiors.

AyA cosmos is a favorite hunting grade single of mine. My stevens 301 410 turkey edition is also becoming a favorite for small game

That's one pathetic civil servant friend. An officer in law enforcement ignorant of one line the C.C.C. is one thing.
But it's severe fail a conservation officer and his ignorance his own provinces game rules/regulations.

Top of his class that one.

A little off-topic...

But if I had more money than brain (and knew how to work a CNC), I'd sure be tempted to reproduce some of the older design

Back to single shot
- Most of the British gunmakers made them at some point in time, for different price point.

A few Beretta 412s were at intersurplus, they might get more on another lot in the future…

Looks like the hammerless folding single shots branded Yildiz/lazer etc may be derivative of this design if not an outright clone?

A few smaller Italian manufacturers seem to specialize in folding shotguns, kipplaufs and combo guns

Looks like effebi beretta still makes the beta single shot, pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. Not sure on the connection to the Beretta we know and love

Yes thier seemingly was a brief affair between Beretta company proper and one smaller manufacturer of single shot folding shotguns.

If u ever held and shot this shotgun named the Galef Companion a few things are discovered.
It's fine with low powered game loads.

It tends to refuse to eject/extract fired buckshot.
It tends to refuse to eject/extract fired slugs.

Not a good thing for any shotgun market and absolutely terrible news for the North American market.

I strongly suspect these two failings and a refusal to improve thier product destroyed this commercial partnership.

All hail the French gunmakers, who think outside the box!

…and who are responsible for the flintlock, the pinfire and the hinge action, the hammerless double, and, some would argue, the percussion cap…

Silly me, I forgot to add the centrefire cartridge to the list…

I would post some pics of my Tolley but the computer is in the shop for last two weeks and I can’t access the pics on my iPad.

I like the Tolley. Neat!!!
Years ago I had an opportunity to buy a similar one including maker's case---I passed on it thinking I really didn't need a kid's gun. Dumb move on my part.

My som and I, we've a Remington Rolling Block with a 1/3 Octagonal barrel in 16 gauge ( My father called it a 'Long Tom')... does it count as exotic?
