Im going to be using an expander mandrel for the first time here soon. Once I get through fire forming all my brass.

I was just wondering how you guys are removing your primers?

Yeah that is what I was looking at, but since I never played around with one before. I know it says right in the name (Universal) lol but wanted to make sure that they would fit for 22Br. :)

You can use an undersized expander ball and decap brass with your sizing die. Redding may still off an undersized nut/ ball with their dies, for this purpose. I have also ground down expander balls so they don't affect sizing .
A universal decapping die works great , it just adds another operation through the press .

All of these methods work as intended when using an expander mandrel system.

Some disclaimer here for using universal decapping dies. The one I use is the Lee Decapping Unit (Decapping Die). It is good for most shells HOWEVER if you have small primer pockets it won't work. It WILL work on 223 but for some odd reason it won't work on a 6.5 Creedmoor with small primer pocket. For that I needed to use either the undersized mandrel with decapper or use the Redding die set (that has a large and small decapping die respectively).

I should have wrote a separate post on here but this is my findings. The Lee will do most but a .338 Lapua Magnum shell will NOT fit into the whole die and doesn't do undersized primer pocket unless you get that specific die or change out the decapping mandrel. The Redding Set can do everything but are two separate dies and you'll need to change them depending on the shell.

If you are using 6 br Lapua brass for the 22 Br , you will need the 0.057 decapping pin . Redding offers this for their Universal decapping die .

Redding universal decapping dies are what I use. Went with Redding because a few of my cartridges had small flash hole brass that my Lee didn't play nice with.

There are two here - by RCBS - probably several decades old - different sizes - one is RCBS Part No. 87585 - says it is "Heavy Duty" - for .27 to .45 cal. Some time ago, I got a "small" one - just has "RCBS" and then "S" stamped on top of the die - I do not know what Part Number that was. For de-capping, I actually use the punch tools from even older Lee Loader kits - have to feel that the punch pin went into the flash hole, then hit the thing with a hammer - the one that I use most often came from a 22-250 kit - I use that to deprime most cases, of about any caliber, belted or not. I have never de-primed a centre fire case that uses smaller than .224" bullet, nor have I had any experience with small diameter flash holes.

I bought a used frankford arsenal hand deprime tool, and for the small rifle primers bought a smaller rod for it. It now has all my deprime duties.

Make sure you pull all your expander balls out of your full sizing dies as well. No need for them.

I use the Whidden full length sizing bushing die. This sets headspace (shoulder bump), shrinks the neck (bushing), and punches out the old primer.

Then I use the Cortina mandrel small base die. This squishes the base and expands the neck (mandrel).

That was another way I was thinking of trying it. I have the Redding set with the FL, NS and seater. And I was thinking off knocking down the expander ball on the neck sizer just to try it out and as a last resort.

cheers

If your case is less than the max of 3.125 inch you should be ok.
The 0.055 pin will work with small and large flash holes.
