I need some advice on pistol choice.

I currently own:
Ruger Mk 1 Target(.22)
Norinco M213(9mm)
CZ 75 P-07 Duty(9mm) in the mail :)
Norinco 1911 Government(.45)

I am just curious if people are happy with a couple calibres with multiple guns in them or do most people tend to get one of everything and just shoot their favorites? Or does everyone have a problem deciding and they just keep buying guns?

I am stuck between getting another 9mm(dont like the M213), a revolver(a different size and style), or another .45(just more fun). Too many damn choices and not enough money.

if my experience in photography and music is any indication, we're all a buncha gear whores.

i could see myself owning a 9mm auto, 38/357 revolver, 45 auto, 44mag desert eagle, 22LR beater pistol, 44mag revolver, etc... maybe even a 357 desert eagle as well. i'd need to sell my motorbike to afford all that crap, though...

Well looks like I am one of the confused ones who just keeps buying things. Looking into purchasing a Ruger GP100 and my last purchase hasnt even arrived yet.

WHAT!?! NO MORE GUNS?! ? ! ? ! ? :D

You're well supported on the semi auto side. And you mentioned that you're looking at revolvers. Have you tried any of them? If the answer is no swing around to DVC in PoCo and try out a few options. I love my semis but when I tried a revolver something magical happened and now between my S&W double actions and the cowboy shooting guns I've actually got more revolvers than I do semis. It wasn't planned that way, just sort of happened due to getting a matched pair of black powder six guns and then backing them up with another pair of cartridge six guns.

Also to get in some fun with what you have already bring a couple of them out to the Speed Steel match at Mission this coming Saturday Apr 24th. The day is split into two matches and you can shoot any gun in each match. Because each match involves a pretty good amount of trigger time I'd suggest using the Ruger .22 for morning and perhaps the 213 or the 1911 for the afternoon. A PERFECT match is 150 rounds of ammo. But there's bound to be a few misses so bring 250 for each match just to be sure. Or if you don't have enough 9mm or .45 then just shoot the Ruger for both the morning and afternoon matches to hang out and have some fun. A lot of us shoot .22 for at least one part of the day and centerfire for the other just to keep the ammo consumption costs under control.... :D

Yeah, really a guy shouldn't live without a quality DA revolver, in a fun caliber like a .357 And, Ruger's Super Blackhawk .44's are a joy. I've never had one of the old Colt SA 45s
but I think there is a bit of nostalgia there to begin appreciating what they have meant over the years.

My 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt is just the ticket. Old time loads, with pokey roundnose, or load it up to the hilt with big, modern cast bullets, either way you gotta smack the smile off the cheeks after a day at the range. And yup, I have a Colt 1911 which I kinda favor too. Get some wheelguns.

I have tried out the 686 at DVC and I have handled a GP100 but not fired one. From reading the reviews the GP100 seems well recommended and I liked the way it felt in my hand. So thats the direction I am heading at the moment.

What exactly is a speed steel match?

What exactly is a speed steel match?

Just a guess in this case, but generally speaking steel matches involve:

One bank of steel plates, one shot timer, when you hear the beep go like hell - timer stops when the last plate drops. Also seen in side by side matches (Two banks of steel plates, two shooters, two timers, but only one beep). An absolute ton of fun, certainly more fun than you would think from the description, and a good way to find out how hard it is to shoot accurately under pressure.

On man on man the timer is usually just for the start signal. The first person to drop the last plate wins. Time doesn't matter. Of course there are things like mandatory reloads and that thrown in to sometimes.
