Expect a scope shortage this year?

Thailand is the world largest manufacturer of optics right now at 22%, Australia, China and Mexico are the only countries that are listed as separate countries, Japan didn't even make it onto the listing on it's own, it is lumped together as "rest of Asia" at 19%

I'm with Jerry on this one. We sell Nightforce and Sightron. An old German friend recently evaluated an SIIBSS6.5-20X50 and called it the finest scope he's used and he has most everything. You'll see a lot more of Sightron, starting now.

Prices are stable for now. Not sure about future, as the Yen has risen sharply against USD and is at 65 year high. Hopefully that will reverse when Japan gets back on its feet.

Assuming the prices don't change I don't know if I'll ever be able to justify buying an S&B or a NF any time soon with the new reticles coming out.

The world has decided it can't live without a Japan so there has been billions spent to DEVALUE the yen. Now the guys in the suits and black sunglasses have to go chase the currency speculators and life will be good.

When it comes to scopes, the test is so very simple. Look at something a long ways away and see what you see.

Very quickly most everything you look through falls away as "so -so glass".

Look at a chimney at least 700yds away. 1000yds is ideal What do you see?

If you see the texture on the bricks, you have good glass. If you see the texture in the grout, you have GREAT glass.

If you can't see either, you have so-so glass and the vast majority of scopes fit into this category.

If you can't see the grout line, change scopes cause you are likely causing eye strain.

Try it and see what you see...

Jerry
