Expected delivery dates ?

I could never find it from their homepage...I just checked their sub-forum and took a mental note of the link

EXPECTED DELIVERY DATES;
Yes we are removing it....
Simply catching too much flak, we thought it would help, it has done nothing but cause grief....

As the title states, these are EXPECTED delivery dates based on what the factories promise, when things don't happen exactly as anticipated we catch hell....e mails, phone calls, faxes, negative postings etc, etc....

We feel our staff can put their time to better use instead of answering people whose sole pleasure seems to be finding fault and berating people....

One more thing we tried, we were wrong, sorry
John

I think the # of people that appreciate your service and advance information is much larger than the ones that got nothing better to do than complain about everything. I really wish you wouldn't give in to these people. :(.

Expected dates can be maintained John. Perhaps, putting items up when they have left the export country would be more useful. Once they have left the country and are en route you can put up an expected date and nothing before that. This would give buyers advance warning to ready their funds for purchase and you would have buyers saving their money for your products whereas they might spend that money in those few days/weeks before the item is available.

Other dealers do this with no problem. I.e. Wolverine with their new CSA rifles. They told us about them, probably as they were shipping from the Czech republic because a few weeks after they annouced the new product, it was in Canada. It is hard to promise things so far in the future when you are not completely in control of the product.

This way expectation can be more closely matched with the ability to deliver.

What about send ing out an e-mail blast when a new item arrives in stock, this way we would not have to constantly check every single item on the web site to see what is "in Stock".....
OR.... How about a page that shows just swhat is in stock, say by category....or something....??

Just a thopught.

As mentioned before, people just like to be "in the loop". If an orders running late, people will understand. This can be as simple as doing a weekly update on your website.

Keeping your customers in the dark is what causes you to "catch hell".

I am 100% sure that John has countless tasks to do in the day where he cannot constantly update the site and customers with information that would be no benefit to us.

We should not expect the dates given to be concrete when the products are in a different country, in a factory somehwere, while we are unaware if it has been assemblied, prepared, packaged etc. etc.

He has a multitude of products from numerous locations coming to him, we are just asking about 1 of them. Everyone will be asking for an update on everything. imagine the headache.

So as to not excite ourselves, we should only get "partially" excited when he tells us, the container is in the water, or left the factory, etc.

We shouldn't have unrealistic expectations.

Doing weekly updates is hardly "all the time", and takes a lot less of your time than trying to respond to constant individual inquiries from customers wondering why something is running months later than the expected delivery date.

You dont have to give concrete dates. A guess of "4-6 weeks" is perfectly acceptable, and the norm when dealing with shipments that can get hung up at the border.

If you tell customers "we're going to order x, expect them in July", and they don't arrive, quite frankly its not unrealistic to post on your website a simple update along the lines of "Sorry, shipment of x is running later than expected. We will keep you posted when they arrive.".

I think four types of "Status" would be great:
Supplier Order Confirmed - Pre-order Now - So customers would know to sign up for pre-order.
Shipped to Marstar - Pre-order Now - So last minute shoppers could sign up while they traverse the globe by sea can.
Awaiting Processing - On Site - So the nervous will know they can blame the registry for the delays.
In Stock - Paperwork done, pre-orders shipping and you order now you get yours as soon as pre-orders are shipped.
Putting real dates, as Johnone said, creates "promises" that can not be lived up to because of unreal customer expectations.

I would be happy to have "rough guess estimated shot-in-the-dark" amounts for any applicable shipping fees from Marstar. Ex: Average rifle in a Marstar case at a maximum of 12 lbs total weight is... to a major city.

But then again, they could be somewhere on the site and I'm just being a noob! f:P:

+1

Your right. No dates should be given. The different update types are a great idea too.

Thanks for pulling it off so people who never whine have no idea how to budget. Pandering to the lower common denominator I see.

geez, now I have no idea what is comming soon...... and I just got notice from Marstar that my M-93 is on its way.

I guess i'll just check every item on the web page every few days.... no other clue as to figure out what is "in stock".

hugely dissapointed in them

i have had m305b on pre-order for 5 months now, guess no 308 for this season.....http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif

i ordered some parts there too, got an email said "order received, thanks" and thats it...no tracking, no parts, nothing but a crass rude emailshttp://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif in return to my inquiries.... crying about how they are at the mercy of their suppliers....

hope i get my stuff some day, but never place another order with them....
MAJOR DISAPOINTMENThttp://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/new/bangHead.gif

I think taking this down might hurt business a little.

Personally, I always checked Marstar's coming soon page every month or so. Not cause I was looking for anything, but sometimes I'd find something I want and would make a note of buying it when it gets here.

Now, there's nothing to check. I don't always go into the dealer sub-forums and even when I do, I don't always want to sort through the threads.
