experience with a cheep .177 from Can-tire...AWESOME!!!

You're lucky if you can pace off 30 yards on your property and target shoot. Where I live, I'd be on the wrong end of a high risk take-down.
Can't say I agree with using animals for target practice. A 5 minute laugh over the killing of a squirrel? I must be missing something.

We would get the darts for the 177 and use a real dart board.Gambling permitted, looser gets the darts.

I was at a friends house last Saturday eve. We were bored, and he told me we should do some "fun" competative shooting with his made in china "savage" springer. It came with a cheap, hard to see thru scope. He drew a dart board type picture on a pizza box and we put it in a tree. we paced out 30 yards, and decided that the first one to 100 would win. We were having an awesome time!!
It got even better when a monster Black squirrel decided to climb our tree and pause beside our target!! I was "dialed in" at this point and plucked him out of the tree. One more to the head when he hit the ground and it was all over.
We laughed about it for about 5-minutes when.....suddenly a big fat rabbit hopped infront of the base of our tree and paused. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I loaded up, and put one to its head at the full 30 yards. It didnt even twitch!
What a great little accurate gun, and I am a true believer that .177 @ 495 is plenty for this type of game within 30 yards possibly more. WOW. I was making fun of my buddies gun at first, now I might buy one!!
Oh, and as for shooting the rabbit....sue me:cool:

I had a Gamo Delta that shot like that.
It was great up to 30 yds, after that it was hit and miss. KD
P.S. As for the rabbit: I hope some little kid isn't missing their,"Mr. Fluffy".

You sound like some kind of little kid shooting squirrels and rabbits and all tickled about it.

Our lots are adjacent. 800 acres. Rabbits are ours. No worries about litttle kids around here

Bought my kids a springer .177 from crappy tire with 495 fps on the box - seemed a bugger to #### (12 year old CAN'T #### it - 14 year old can) - noticed it would blast a pellet through two layers of 3/8" OSB - stuck a chrono in front of it - let's leave it at "495fps my ass"....some of those things are pretty punchy! I'm sure the spring will sag out and slow down soon enough....accurate and powerful, and just over $100 - I'm happy. Need to add a better optic though.

Squirrel poppin here is deemed funny too - worthy of laughter if the critter falls on your car etc. Bunnies - too many coyotes this year to be any around or I'd shoot them too. The neighbors cat that keeps crappin at the end of my driveway might get a pellet soon enough though.

So into the pot it goes? KD

I have a 1947 Red Ryder BBgun for that sort of thing. I don't really want to perforate "kitty", just send it home. KD

These guns could be shooting 'hot' because of dieseling, smell the chamber after firing or look for smoke wafting out of the barrel. If so, it will eventually go away.

Theres no gurantee as to how department store guns will shoot, but it's known that chinese manufactured guns shoot higher than normal or very close to the 500 fps mark.

Is that supposed to be impressive? You bought yourself a moose for 3 grand you big hunter you. Better stick with knocking off rabbits out of season.

Hey Big Mouth,

Why dont you go hang out in the Liberal.com forum, start your own thread, or simply quit trolling mine if you dont like it.

Are you seriously that much of a big mouth in real life? I suspect not. My guess is that your just an "intraweb" big mouth.....now that's "impressive" (as you say):D

Whats's impressive is you and your bada$$ bb gun taking pi$$ poor shots on game animals out of season. 30 yards is too far for a .177 at 495 FPS, you got lucky.

Yep, I guess you're missing something. Cant help but think....."you're a little too serious for me".

Go back to watching "what not to wear" on your idiot box

Yeah, I'm serious about how the public perceives hunters and shooters, about firearms safety, about the future of firearms ownership.
I don't watch "what not to wear". I don't know how this comment is relevent to anything.

Can't help but think....."you're a little too immature for me"

+1 gotta agree.............takes a real big man to shoot a rabbit or squirrle then brag about it.
