I’m looking at a Bergara Ridgeback online right now. I’ve read good things about them but would like to hear more first hand experience.
There’s a 10% off sale that ends tonight that I really want to get in on.

Here’s the link if anyone wants to check out exactly what I’m looking at:

Thanks

I really really want to like the bergara rifles. I've always been a Remington fan and these have most of the upgrades that I like. However after some issues with pierced primers driving back the firing pin and shattering the bolt shroud I have decided to avoid them. We have some members on here that are very knowledgeable on the bergara rifles who will know if that problem has been safely resolved or not but for now I am going to avoid them. Which is unfortunate because I like everything else about them.

Mine (B14 hunter and B14 Woodsman) were accurate shooters with very good triggers. I was also a bit worried about the striker/shroud issue and just not too cool with such a cheap cast part on a rifle that costs that much. To be clear I never had any issues. The rifles performed great.

Premier series you are looking at is different from the B14, receiver is made in the US and has a floating separate bolt head (think Savage, Rem 783). It's barrel is still made in Spain. Haven't heard any issues with those, but the price isn't really that appealing...you could get a real custom action and match barrel thrown into a decent stock for the same price or less.
The B14 is made in Spain, cast receiver, and just about everything else they cast on it as well. Those where the ones blowing bolt shrouds up with simple pierced primers, so something is not right with the bolt design.

I have only worked with one Bergara rifle, and I was disappointed. The rifle was extremely load sensitive, and it copper fouled badly. A positive was a good trigger.
