Experience with Dominion 700 or 800 Smokeless Powder

I don't personally have any experience with D700 but I have lots with IMR700X and plenty of experience with D4198 and D4064. From what I can tell the D### powders are a lesser grade powder that have some physical inconsistency to them when compared to their consumer grade counterparts. Their burn rate is different for every batch so you are best to work up a load with each batch.

That said, I would have no problem buying D700 when my IMR700X runs out. From my experience the D versions of the powders I've used function almost exactly the same. I get similar muzzle speeds, case fill, and save a lot of $$. In a pistol round you likely wouldn't need to "work up" a load. My 700X loads are all light target loads anyway so if the D700 was a bit different it wouldn't present a hazardous situation.

I find I prefer 700X in 45ACP. Mostly because it's cheap, accurate, and burns remarkably clean no matter how hot or light I load it. Despite being a flake powder it seems to meter well through my Dillon progressive press as long as I'm cognizant of what vibrations I'm imparting on the press itself. Consistent pulls is key to getting consistent charges.

Hopefully others will pipe up with actual D700 experience for you.
