Aside from the hefty price tag and being made in Austria, I haven't heard much firsthand experience about these supposedly fine scopes. Reputation is great online but would like some input from fellow Nutz if you care to share. The particular model I'm most interested in is actually their bottom end model, the AH series in 2-7x33 (if you can call $1050 bottom end  ), but any input on the brand as a whole is great too.

Thanks :)

Years ago I inherited a BAR with a Kahles fixed power. As a long time owner of Vari-X III's, I was duly impressed with the scope. However, I had never heard of them before. Fast forwaqrd to last year.....went to get a "trade in" value on the BAR, expected to hear 400.00....guy says he'll give me a grand! I say "The BARS are worth that kind of $$ ?!?!" He says "No, the BAR is worth around 425, the scope is worth 600."

Sorry, that's the extent of my experience.

I just did a side by side comparison with a 3-9x40 Kahles AH and a bunch of zeiss scopes and some leopulds. The Kahles was very very noticabley better.
I have never had anything but cheap scopes before but after spending some time with the Kahles I bought one. I had no idea optics could be that good. even the feel of the scope is superior, smacks of quality.

It will be sitting on a 6.5x55 98 mauser that cost me 350 bucks, so much for the old saying spend as least as much on your optics how about 3+ times!

Swarovski I think now owns Kahles.

Well Kahles are great scopes for sure and I have compared them side by side with the new Luepold VXIII 's. The only thing the Kahles has over the Leup is a slightly wider FOV... and this is at the expense of eye rielief.

I recently compared the Kahles to the Leupold VX-L and the only thing the Kahles has over the Leup is a slightly wider FOV, and this is at the expense of eye relief.
I would take the VXIII over the Kahles as well... they are generally lighter have more eye relief and transmit light as well or better.

I have owned three Kahles scopes over they years and there is not a word to say about them that is not positive.

The old 2-7 that sits on my 375 H&H has never missed a beat and every guy who has ever shouldered the rifle and looked through it has said much the same thing. They all are amazed at how sharp the image is and the brightness.

Actually the kahles 3x9x42 weighs exactly the same as the vxIII 3.5x10x40.And in my opinion the kahles offers better optics and is brighter.
