Experience with Nikon Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40mm ?

I'm considering one of these with the fine crosshair w/dot reticle for a Tikka T3 in .243 Win.
Mostly for range use, it would replace a Leupold VX1 3-9x40.
For those of you that have this scope, what do you think of it?

I had one. The "fine crosshair" is SO fine, that you can barely see it. At least that's the way I felt. Ive had good luck with the prostaff line in the past but the fine crosshair model was a bit too fine for myself. I would suggest checking it out prior to buying. The price point on these make them attractive.
I have great vision and I didn't like the reticle.

I have this scope but with the Mil dot reticle. I like the glass and zoom range but haven't looked through one with the fine reticle.

Have the fine /dot combo on a 22 and its an excellent choice.

The trouble with looking before you buy is actually finding one locally. For target use, I'm not so concerned about losing the reticle in the background.
Nikon doesn't seem to have much information about their reticles online, nothing I can find about post thickness, subtension, dot size, etc. Not even an image showing the reticle in the scope-specific web page.

From what I can see, this scope has 1/8 MOA adjustments?
I'm looking for something to shoot over a variety of ranges, everything from 100 out to 800 yds depending on the rifle.
No use under 50 yds, so EFR or lack of it isn't a concern of mine.

I have the 3.5-14×40 with the bdc and I really like it. Haven't found it too thin at all and I really like the spot on app.
