Anyone used this projectile for anything?

would like to hear some thoughts from experiences..

I'm preferring a Flat Base, so looking at the TSX, is this still much tougher than the TTSX?

Around $66 per 50 here

cheers

I have never used a 120 TTSX, but I so have quite a bit of experience with 150 grain TTSX out of my 30-06, 100 grain TTSX 25-06, 140 grain TTSX 7mm rem mag. All have killed white tail deer.
I have used the 150 grain TTSX on moose with no problems.

As far as I can tell the TSX and the TTSX are supposed to be the same the only difference is the TTSX will have a better BC because of the tip. I have also read the TTSX might open a little quicker because of the tip and the bigger cavity in the bullet.

I've recently purchased a 7mm-08 and the 120 fgr. TTSX (.284) is what I've bought to use in it. Because these pills retain close to 100% of their weight upon impact, to me it's like using a much heavier grained bullet like a 140-150, especially with the higher velocities you can attain because they are lighter. I should be able to attain speeds in access of 3000 FPS using varget or RL15 but I'm curious to see what these copper pills will do with RL17, even though it's a powder designed originally for short magnums.

I also like the fact that I'm going lead free now adays in all my rifles for the game I target.

I haven't used the 120 in a 7mm, but I have used quite a few ttsx. I pasted a deer at 14 yards with a 120 from a 26 nosler, bullet held together enough to exit. The impact velocity would be somewhere just over 3400 fps a bit of a test in itself. I have gotten prob 15 animals from deer to bear and moose with the ttsx in a few calibers. Pretty much always the same, good damage through the lungs/heart and a set of entry/exit holes. One thing that has worked for me is to always go lighter with the full copper bullets and drive them fast.

My wife has used the 120 tsx and TTSX to zap some white tails at warp speed from a 7mm rem mag. Has since switched to a 243 ai with the 80ttsx. Alberta hunting forum has a few threads of guys killing moose with he 120 TTSX from the 7-08. Do some googling, they had some pictures too. 24hour had a thread a few years ago of a fellow shooting through both shoulders on a moose with the 120 from a 7-08.

A guy I used to work with smashed a bull elk in the upper left just below the shoulder with a 120 grain TSX in a 7mm wby mag. He was going for a long range shot, and that it was 927 yards. Bullet did not even attempt to open up. Smashed the leg bone, tumbled inside and did lots of damage. He found the bullet on the off side, right under the hide. It had a very noticeable bend in it.

So yes they work, but you also have to know the velocity at which it will no longer expand.

I made up a load for my 280 Rem with 120 TTSX and Superperformance 3166 fps. excellent accuracy, if the gods let me get drawn for mule deer this year I'll report back.
