Hey guys,

I like their prices, and they ship to Canada. Has anyone ever dealt with these guys before? Is there any trick for us Canadians to get around all that US export BS? Some US dealers say that you don't need to apply for a permit if your product value is under $100, others say you don't need to if it's under $500, and other US dealers like www.opticsplanet.net say that you "may" need to apply for a permit. Has anyone recently dealt with these guys, and can they tell me if the duty was worth it? I'm just looking for a Meuller reflex red dot for $95 or a Vortex Sparc for $199. Can you get these guys to send it as a gift, or any mumbo jumbo like that to get duty waived? Any tips?

After the huge fines that Cabelas($680,000) and other companies received for illegally exporting scopes without the proper paperwork, it is unlikely that they would take a chance to sell a $100 scope.

So the Clinton administration gave away the country's top nuclear secrets to the Chinese for free, and they come down hard on Cabelas for selling a scope? Priceless! :dancingbanana:
So, what is the process for...., and is it worth it? Do you have to pay anything extra on top of the original purchase to get a permit?

pretty sure OpticsPlanet don't ship scopes to Canada, i tried.. theopticzone.com does but you need to get permits, takes about 6 weeks until you get the scope.

Looks like it's not worth the hassle, not to mention the duty on it. I guess the most reasonable option is to shop here in Canada. After some searching, I did notice the Vortex Sparc selling at DS tactical for $219 + HST&Shipping. I've heard Meuller makes scopes with good Japanese glass. White Falls hunting in Sask. seems to be the only Meuller dealer in Canada. They're selling the Quick Shot for $139. Has anyone heard of Meuller? Not too much info on them out there, but they do look like high value. I'm just looking for something to throw on my 10/22. I figure a red dot with a small MOA would be perfect because I would never attempt to make a kill shot on small game further than 100ft. Any opinions?

I bought a Mueller Eraticator some years ago. It has proven to be an excellent scope for the $$$ it cost.

Hey guys,
Has anyone ever dealt with these guys before?

Well... about a two years ago bought a 511 soft rifle case. Took a long time for them to decide if they'd ship it to me and then it took weeks to get here.

They're HQ'd in Brooklyn NY, but my case came straight from SanDiego Cali.

I've bought spotting scopes from them. They don't ship any other scopes north. The price you see say $250 you can double it by the time it gets to you. What with duty, brokerage fees, tax and shipping. The reason I ordered from them is I couldn't find anyone up here selling the 20-60X80 Konus sport spotting scope++.

Thanks for the reality check. What are good places for us Canadians to go buy scopes/red dots from? I'm not talking about really hard to find stuff, but more common brands/models.

This happened to me as well. Except in my case they decided a couple weeks later they would just cancel my order and not advise me. Lame excuses and bad service.

Never again.

I bought my ITWB concealment holster from them and it wasn't dutied up to hell or anything. It arrived at advertized price and very quickly........mind you it was under$100.

I remember trying to order some Leupold Alumina covers from optics, and the shipping was very expensive. I've also bought scopes off fleabay for minimum drama, there's no grief from the Canadian border guys, they just like to grind the duty out of you. All that being said, check out WSO before you go to all the trouble. Some models are on sale right now. That's where my next scope is coming from!

Who's WSO? Canadian retailer? Do you mean wholesale-sports?

Don't bother with them. Their shipping is unbeleivable, they wanted all the export forms filled out. That was for a couple different types of hearing protection.

I bought a mueller multi shot 2-7x32 from Frank's great outdoors in Linwood michigan a couple of years ago. They are online.Shipping was cheap and the scope has exceeded all of my expectations.Check them out.The Canadian dealer wanted double the price for the scope.Even with shipping and duty,i saved over 50 percent.
