anybody shot this stuff? in what? SVT40?, Mosin PU? I'm lazy and this would make me shoot my SVT a lot more often ( less detailed cleaning needed) Thanks folks:)

Me and a few buddies picked some up. My SVT doesn't seem to like it much. Roughly a third to a half of the rounds don't fire the first time the firing pin hits them, they all fire fine the second time around though. This hasn't been a problem I've had with any other surplus I have fired. My friends mosin sniper on the other hand doesn't have a problem with the chinese stuff. Pull the trigger and bang every time with pretty good accuracy (we're all mediocre shots at best).

Was it corrosive? less corrosive? non corrosive as advertised? Thanks!

I've had the exact same results at matthunt101. Maybe 1/4 of the rounds for me would not fire the first time but with the Mosins, it seems to work fine.

No idea on if they are more or less corrosive but I think it is a safe bet to just say it's corrosive. Just make sure to give the firearm a really good clean with whatever way works for you as soon as you can after shooting any corrosive stuff!

It is chinese surplus ammo, came in 2 span cans of 440 each. I don't read manderin, so I have no idea what the tins say...Also, the distributor I bought it from doesn't specify. I always assume all surplus ammo is corrosive regardless of whether or not they say it is. If I can find some of the casings next time I'm at the range I'll let you know how corrosive or not it was. I just break the rifle down and give it a thorough cleaning regardless of what ammo I shoot. And I'd recommend the same to anyone regardless of what ammo you shoot.
Cheers :)

As mentioned above, many SVTs do not like the stuff. It's great in Mosins but that is all I would use it for. I never buy it anymore as it isn't practical as I have SVTs and Mosins.
Corrosive? Probably.

1000rd case, non corrosive Chinese 7.62-54R ammo

To be perfectly clear. I am asking about the above, not the surplus stuff in tins which is for sure corrosive, thanks! Sold by one of the dealers on here, rhymes with Ranada Camo

From the photo's on their site, I appears to be the same stuff I have, but that's not a guarantee. I could just have a bad batch of ammo, or my firing pin could be worn down a little. Who knows? I'm just saying my only experience with Chinese ammo is a lot of miss fires.

I've bought the Chicom milsurp stuff from SFRC twice now and my SVT-40 LOVES the stuff. I have it set at 1.3 and it cycles like a champ.

Here a video of me firing off 5 rounds of it last winter at the range.

And again at the cottage a few weeks ago. Sorry for the jabber... my 9 year-old was filming. LOL

But like lalunette shows above, that svt works fine with the chinese ammo.
So like I said, I might have a bad batch of ammo, or my firing pin may be worn down.

OK, the following happened to me when I first got my SVT...

I did not disassemble the firing pin so there was still a ton of grease in there and it was causing light strikes and FTFs.

I then took the bolt apart, cleaned out all the industrial-strength grease in there, oiled it and reassembled it.

No problems since !!

Guy's he is talking about can am new stuff! I haven't shot it but if can am says it's non corrosive I believe them.

I have actually totally disassembled the bolt assembly including the extractor and firing pin and totally cleaned them of cosmo. My firing pin just appears to be a little worn is all.
