Experiences with superformance

I used it is a 30-06 with 180 SSTs, accuracy was fair out to the 200 yards I tried it at. Speed was 2850 fps in a 26" benchmark, which was no better than H4350. I tried it recently in a 300 WSM with 150s just to see if I could get the 3400 fps in the Hodgons manual. It did that, with quite good short range accuracy but groups fell apart by 500.

my youngest son uses it in his X-bolt Micro Hunter and I use it in my A-bolt Micro Medallion. Both guns like it, they are in 7mm-08. I just picked up 2 more boxes at CTA at $40. each.

I shot a doe with the 308 super and the bullet went threw both sides of the ribs and broke in two chunks when it come out ,it did jelly every thing in the deers chest and left two holes on the exit ,,she went about 10 yards in a mad dash and pilled up ,so ya it did the job but I am not sure it is worth the extra money ,,Dutch

Did not like it in a Micro Midas 7-08. Terrible groups (4-7 inch). It loves the 140 Fusion though (sub MOA to 200 anyway)...every gun is likely different.

I found it sub-par and that it is not as good as what it replaced (the Hornady Light Magnum brand). I was getting just shy of 3000 fps from the 150gr Hornady .308 Win Light Magnum ammo with very good groups out of one of my .308 rifles and the .30-06 LM ammo was very close to .300 Win Mag factory ballistics.

Never understood why they replaced it with the new Super Performance brand that does no better and most cases even less than the LM ammo, rumour on the web was that it was too hot for older rifles in poor condition.
