Explain why a sporter/precision hybrid rifle is a bad idea

Oh God ! lol for what you want to do ... Get a Rem 700 in CDL ss with wood stock. Turf the stock and get that mcmillan stock. Then get a leupold Vx3 4.5-14 With a boon and crocket retical. Then buy a bushnell range finder with arc. you will mow the lawn ! out to 500 with out having to dial a scope... your welcome !

You are right the f**k out of er buds.....

Most dudes in this forum shoot 300Y for warmup.... just sayin...
You shoot a light barrel? Good for you, as long as it is a challenge, and you are learning, its a win win for ya. Just keep shooting, and enjoy what you do.

Hahaha ! Awsome comment !
I shoot 5 shot groups with a #4 hart magnum contour in 7rem mag out to 1150 yards consistanly. No problems with heat

Why not consider a tactical tyle rifle with a 20" heavy barrel - should still be light enough to carry on a hunt and will be perfect for your precision out to 300 and beyond.

This is what led me to purchase the SPS Tactical. I was thinking about a scout rifle because I thought it would be easier to carry. But the heavy barrel SPS Tactical is only about 7.5 lbs itself which is only a half pound heavier than the scout.

Only thing I am missing is back-up iron sights and the box magazine. I have ordered a box magazine floor plate...

All this concern over heat...?
I don't know about your ranges, but
Isn't that why we take more than 1 gun?
I shot one- it gets warm, I shoot another- it gets warm, etc.. until the first one is cool then repete as nessessary.
Works for me.
YMMV

I'm starting down this road myself. Bought an old Howa .308 donor rifle for cheap, gonna rebarrel, restock it and chuck on a decent close to intermediate range optic. My ultimate goal is to be able to kill deer at 600yds and in.
