Exploiting bfiles wood ???....for VZ/CZ/CSA

What you do not see in the photo is that stock is done in 2 pieces split down the middle...mine are only 1. A guy I know has a set and it does look good but I cannot stop looking at the split down the middle. The pistol grip was too square for my liking as well with very little corner round...but to each their own I guess. So no...I dont make sets like his....I make them as close to the original AK as possible

Thee butt stock was made in two pieces down the length.
But the only thing carved out was the long hole to fit the large bolt.

Every other part of the interior surface of that thing was slathered in wood glue and clamped until dried. If you know anything about working with wood and glue, the glue actually bonds the fibers of the wood together, if you apply pressure to a glued seam the wood beside the glue will split before the glued section. Or in English the glued section ends up stronger than the regular wood itself.

To anyone else, he is not making them right now because he is balancing his family life and his career (he's a framer by trade) and he has no time unfortunately. He really does want to make more, he has access to much better tools now as well but he just can't find the time :(

Sorry guys.

I'm sure all these guys talking will have some out that are super more betterer and stuff....

^^^^ yeah if he knows anything about wood working, LMFAO!!!!!
+1

Travis: Why not set up a jig for the drill press to drill the hole for the bolt in the butt stock instead of creating an unsightly seam? Buttwhat knows what he's doing.

I still haven't had time to make my set, but I do have the wood picked out. :)

The donkey **** looks great, I'd love to get that piece.
It's surprising how close to an AK the aftermarket wood gets the CZ-858/vz-58, the only way I can tell is the angled dust cover and bolt.Looks awesome.

I can understand anyone wanting to get rid of the beaver puke wood or plastic, but why would you want to make a VZ look like an AK ? Do you think VZ's/Cz's look inferior, maybe I'm missing something.

People often want what they cannot have and having AK-style wood is one way to help bridge that gap. I'm currently bouncing between making AK-style, CZ-style or something else. Not sure yet.

I could understand that if a VZ 58 dressed in AK furniture looked like an AK, but I don't think it does.

If we could only have AK's do you think people be would be trying to make them look like VZ's ?

In the distant past I owned both a VZ 58 and a Chinese type 56 at the same time. Of the two I found the VZ to be the better rifle in all aspects.

I understand what you're saying, but you also are paying more attention to finer details between the two rifles. To the casual observer, a giant banana magazine and the AK-styled wood makes it close enough. It's all in fun.

If VZ had the world-wide notoriety that AK's currently have, then yes. Some people would.

Which is "better" is largely irrelevant to people who just want what they can't have. If it was only about "better" then so many guns wouldn't exist.

The world is better with choices. Nothing wrong with that. :)

Mr.Bickle...I realize that the bond is strong and I did not mean to insult your work at all. I just merely stated what I prefer and there is nothing at all wrong with what he has done and they do look great. There are just many more styles available in the AK furniture. I don't mind my VZs looking like factory pieces and the look of a rifle really has little to do with performance. As for the AK vs VZ debate both have advantages and both are great rifles but I would give the upper hand to the VZ personally. I just really think there needs to be more options for the VZ furniture and I am working as hard as I can at it. I can totally relate to (your brother in law?) and the time needed to make the sets. There is lots of options available if you want to turn it into a black rifle but I am not fond of that plastic stuff and for those who are it is there choice and as long as it makes them happy I say do it.

I don't care for the curvature of the stock, nor the shape of the pistol grip on the CZ. They are ugly, IMO.

I just wish someone could mass produce a good solid laminate AK style wood set at a mass produced good solid laminate wood set price for the CZ.

Unfortunately our tiny market in this country and the crappy little niche we are forced to accept by default that is the CZ rifle hasn't produced a situation that will ever likely see this happen. So we do what we can to make something that isn't look just a little bit more like something that we'll also never get to own :(

I'm anxious to see what all these new ones you guys are talking about look like and the price tags. Keep us posted Sir.
