Explosive loads for .22-250?

Yeah... what the other guys said, pretty much anything small like gophers or magpies that you hit is going to blow up pretty good. I usually use Nosler Ballistic Tips in my 22-250, and I haven't really noticed a difference in explosiveness with different bullet weights, at least on small critters. The most spectacular kill that I've witnessed on a gopher so far is when a buddy shot one with his 22-250. That poor little gopher got at LEAST 20 feet into the air. That was with a 55 gr Ballistic Tip at an impact velocity of probably about 3400 fps.
 
4 L milk jugs full of water at 100 yards blowed up real good with pretty much every 22-250 bullet. Some of those caps shot straight up 50 yards.
