Exporting antiques from Germany

I'm curious if any one has done this before. The upcoming Hermann Historica auction has a couple antique rifles I'd like to get. Unfortunately I don't know any of the regulations or costs involved. Years ago I messaged them and they said they could, but shipping for 1 rifle alone was over 800 euro. I don't know if anythings changed or if there are any cheaper shipping options.
 
Last time I looked at the H-H site, I think they made it clear that they do not export. A broker would have to be used.
 
Most shipping companies (like fedex, dhl, ups etc) won’t ship it I think so best to find out how it can be shipped before you bid on it.
 
I have done it and I'm planning to bid this go around too (I believe a number of Canadians do regularly). There are no cheaper options - expect to pay through the nose and account for it in your bidding (1k+) and that's before fees and taxes here. Also they often take their time. Also they will CIP proof all guns if they haven't been already - so if you don't want a prominent engraving on the gun, keep that in mind.

They do that? Even for antiques? Seems a good way to destroy collector value especially on guns that it would be doubtful someone would shoot.
