Well, this certainly isn't your typical "How can I bring ammo/handgun into Canada from the US" question. I've had enough of those. With that being said, I have searched the "Legalese" section and have found nothing on this topic.

Is there any type of rule or legislation that one must follow for selling pistol/gun parts to people in the US of A?

I have a pistol barrel that I would like to list on Gun Broker. Is there a law I'm not aware of (assuming somebody from the US buys it) that prohibits me from selling and shipping it to them?

If somebody gives me the facts, I would be willing to do a writeup of this so that it can be stickied for others.

Thanks.

Yes, you need an import permit from the ATF. In order to get one , you must comply with Title 27 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 47. Here, have fun reading:

P.S. Did you really think that you could just send a firearm across the border without having to deal with miles of red tape?

Thanks for the link. That's a whole lotta information and a good resource.

I meant shipping barrels and misc parts from Canada to the US of A, not complete, working firearms.

I realize the red tape to get parts and complete guns across, but I'm wondering about shipping from Canada to the US for parts only.

If you are an indivigual forget about it its a catch 22.

I tried the same thing and to import to canada takes three steps you mist register the gun with the firearms certer, the obtain an import certificate with foregin affairs (by phone no cost same day) then get an authorisation to transport from the border to your house

I called ATF and they said that one would need a export permit that all gun stores should have. The store submit it for you when approved by the ATF they would mail the approved copy to youand you must present it at US customs. Here is where the catch is as per the ATF & homeland security laws NO store/dealer is permitted to sell a non us citizen/resident a firearm you will have to use a broker/dealer.

I also checked out a broker CDN and they will give you a song and a dance about how difficult it is then charge you about $250.00 to 300.00 so where is the savings?

If you read closely, you will see that a firearm is defined as "a weapon, and all components and parts thereof..."
