Exporting rifle scopes from the UK

Hello,

Has anyone successfully (and legally) purchased a rifle scope from the UK and had it exported to Canada?

I've found a bit of information online, which suggests that no export permits are required unless the scope is over 4x magnification:

I'm specifically interested if it's legal to return to Canada from the UK with a 4x20 scope.

What scope are you looking at exporting?

Is it unavailable here?

Based on the market size in the UK for these things, and being that most things are more expensive in Europe, it's probably easier to just buy it here.

I'd definitely buy local if that were an option, but in this case, the scope I'm interested in is a German military surplus 4x20. The only sources I've found in North America are in the US, and we all know the hurdles to purchase from south of the border.
