Extend 1889 Schmidt's L.O.P.?

Yeah, that could be a real problem. Good thing my brother isn't on this today: he is a charter member of Possum Lodge, likely would suggest that you build it up with duct tape.

But thinking on duct tape (which is spelled wrong: anybody knows it's really DUCK tape), I suppose you COULD duck-tape a duck to the buttplate. That would soften the recoil a lot. On the other hand, it could be very noisy.

See if you can find a slip-on for a 10-bore Magnum shotgun. I know they make them: I had one, but it got given away to a lady who really needed it for her rifle.
If you can find one of those, even that might be a little too small, but you can always slip it on by slitting the thin part of the rubber, installing it and THEN duct-taping it back together. The old '89 does have an unusual butt, I know; I have a couple of them here.

If you can't find anything, give Cornie Ens a call at Manitou Gun Works in Manitou, Manitoba. Cornie often has the most unusual darned things lying around and he knows a LOT about fitting to old guns. Let's put it this way: for the possible but rare, I use the Internet. For the plain darned IMPOSSIBLE (Ross Mark Is, Royal Sovereign Grade shotguns cased w/accessories, that kind of stuff), a call to Cornie usually does the trick. He does some gunsmithing, too, took him exactly 15 minutes to give my 1911 Steyr pistol a trigger that rivals some of the best match triggers. When he started, it was 24 pounds AND gritty. His prices are fair, too. Heck of a nice guy on top of it.

Sorry I can't offer better than that.
