Extended Rail for MR1??¿

Nice to get some pics. Im definitely going to do the bipod thing. Probably the Hrrris 13-16 incher so I can sit shoot some coyotes. I am a little surprised to see the angled fore grip on it though. One of the reasons I enjoy the MR1 over the AR is that the AR is so awkward to hold; its too angular and thus needs the angled fore grip to feel good. The MR1 fits my hands so nice.

I like your light set up too. I have a Shurefire scout that I'm waiting to put on once I get the tri rail (where did you get your rail?)

As for the rear sight, was it just a matter of taking out the 2 screws and popping it off?

Earlier you said that the scope was to high for a good cheek weld. If you were to just use picatinny rings, without the whole mount thing, you can get that scope a little lower. On the optics side of things, I've been looking at the Bushnell 3200 1.25-8. The price on the old Bushnells are so sweet these days.

Only had the gun for a week so I haven't done a whole lot, nor will I be for another 5 weeks as I get to spend some time up in the NWT, but this is what I have for now.

You're right about the Bushnells, they're a hell of deal. The Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical I've got is going on my BA110. Nice scope, very clear and sharp, under rated in my opinion.

I really pondered on the fore grip and decided to take the chance. It's a Magpul grip and rail. The rail is reshaped to fit the contours of the rifle perfectly, couldn't have worked out better. You'd be amazed how well the angled grip works, at least for me. It saves the twisting motion of the wrist which is a big deal for me (I've got a lot of mileage on the old bod). I picked both up through Wolverine Supplies. They're great to deal with, looking forward to the next purchase through them.

The rear sight is nothing to remove if you've got quality driver bits. Without good quality bits, they'll probably snap off. Those two screws are some tight!

I thought about the Harris but they've never really turned my crank. High quality, but.....I just don't know what it is.

Regarding your question about the rings, I think unless you use a scope with a lot of eye relief you're going to hate it, too much neck cranking. That is unless your rifle has the adjustable stock (wish mine did, oh well. I make it a firm policy to always buy when stuff first comes out and then kick myself when the improved model comes out ten minutes later).

Well, I guess that confirms my last statement. Lucky you, adjustable stock. I'm hoping to find someone who wants to get rid of theirs and make the switch. That would really make my day.

Good luck on your travels north and stay safe. Too bad the weather decided to turn for crap, your luck seems to be as good as mine (except I guess I get the choice whether or not to go out into it.):)

I'm hoping it will warm a little, but you take it as it comes.

I suppose I'll have to tinker with the eye relief. WSS has the MR1 and the bushnells so maybe they can do in in store setup for me to see if it works. I'm just hoping to figure out an extened rail option. I was thinking of getting a longer rail, and screwing it where I can, and have the rest secured with maybe 2 sided tape or some sort of adhesive just to keep it a little firm. Don't know if this is a good option or not. I was even thinking of having the rail go back to where the rear sight is now and then you can mount a cope further back, or but in BUIS.

As for collapsible stock, they have just started to become readily available. In Edmonton anyways, West Ed Mall had one in none collapsible, P&D only had the restricted one with collapsible, and WSS has both non restricted models and Cabelas had only non collapsible. Still kind of hit or miss.

Sorry, apparently I didn't get what you were asking about the rail until rereading your post. I take it you're asking about the fore end rail kit (from a CX4), picked it up from The Shooting Edge in Calgary. Last time I checked they still had one in stock. Give'em a call.

I'm still going to give the CX4 rail a try, just haven't made to the store yet. I think it's going to work, and if not, I'll make it work. I'll keep you updated on how that goes.

Your rifle looks slick the way it is, the Bushnell will be kickass with the adjustable stock. Again, I wish I had the option.

I'll have to check the shooting edge out. Target sports in Toronto has them as well (same company), but my friend who went there got kicked out of the range so I'll probably just go to Calgary.

Hopefully you'll have that rail figured out for when I get back. I love the EO tech, but this is definitely more of a medium range gun then CQB rifle.

I'm going to try to pop off that rear sight now. Hopefully it doesnt take the same bit that I snapped off tightening down my Sako rings. Snap on Bit too.

I use the Wheeler drivers, bits and torque driver. It seems like pretty good quality stuff. As far as CQB, that's why I took the Aimpoint T1 off. I only wish the Vortex had a little more range like the Bushnell. Still, it's not bad.

What happened at Target Sports? Must have been a really bad experience to get booted from the range (attitude from the operator perhaps, it happens).

If you're down in Calgary some time check out Calgary Shooting Center. It really is a nice, top notch facility.
