Are we so hard up in Canada that none of our sporting goods stores sell extended choke tubes?? I went through every one of our sponsoring retailers with no luck. I guess no one in Canada uses them.
I was at Wild TV's "Hunt Fest" or as I called it "Lame Fest" today and asked around... I got replies of "well they aren't big sellers, so we don't stock them"
Gee.. I wonder why nobody ever buys things you don't have in stock, or make any effort to get in?
It isn't just chokes tubes, the simplest things you can barely get north of the border
It is enough to make me want to move South.

Sorry, I just wanted to vent a little, I'll be ok soon.

edit, I did find a Canadian Distributor for Carlson Chokes, (Al's Corner store) but their website has no info other than they are a distributor, so, I will have to call Monday and see if they stock any for WinChoke.

Extended choke tubes for what exactly?

I'm pretty sure you could find Brownings without too much difficulty.
Also Lawry Shooting Sports in Ontario is a Canadian dealer for Briley chokes.
If you can have threads on your shotgun and coin in your pocket Briley can pretty much build you anything you could ever dream up.

Edit. I see you're looking for Winchokes.

Al's corner store in Arnprior Ontario has just about every carlson choke tube imagineable in stock. They had exactly what I wanted when I stopped by (20g rem skeet, 12g baikal XXF)

Ellwood Epps sells Colonial chokes and Carlson's, I have bought from them before.
For the most part I go right to Georgia however, and get my extended chokes from George Trulock.

Many retailers have extended chokes but not all of them might stock extended Winchokes. They aren't as common as Beretta or Browning replacements.

I bought my winchoke tubes over the counter in Edmonton. It took 5 minutes on the phone to find them.

I checked Epp's web site and although it said they have chokes, they had no info on what was in stock or pricing... just links to the manufactures web sites.

Jethunter.... where?

I guess my point was, I found dozens of US stores where I can just buy them right off their web site and not one in Canada. I like to shop Canadian stores rather than US stores because, the more stuff that sells in Canada... the better the chances that more Canadian stores will start carrying better selections as well. It's just kind of a let down when it seems like they don't make the effort.

In Canada even the local sporting goods store is at a disadvantage .
The small store generally has to buy from a sales rep who works for a supplier/importer .
The problem starts with the owner of the wholesale/import company and the buyer he/she employs.
The buyer generally sits in an office and tries to determine the biggest return on investment and buys what they feel will be fast sellers to them. What we as consumers will get is not what we want/need. The buyer may actually talk to the sales reps, but is more interested in drinking coffee and doing the New York Times Crossword puzzle than actually getting out of the air conditioned office and talking to the retailers.
It took me 6 weeks to get some Browning Extended Choke Tunes for my Browning Gold last fall, and the sales rep was in the store taking a sales order from the store owner.
So, it is not that we are screwed here in Canada , it is that we are being screwed by the people who sell the goods to the retailer and then to you and I.
Tight groups,
Rob

The biggest problem is the internet. Sporting stores do not stock such items, because in order to stock them they have to add frieght, profit and stock the item for lengths of time for you to walk in to there store see a $70.00 choke tube and walk away, just to buy it over the internet! Sad but true, the day of the good old gun stores with great service and good pricing are long gone.

There are many stores that stock exteneded chokes from time to time, but few have Winchoke unless its ancient stock. Winchoke is not a big seller because most guns threaded for Wincoke have a set of tubes. It really does not pay to keep much stock just to replace the odd lost tube. Western Gun Parts used to have stock. Browning Canada will order them. Briley sells them and usually can get here in less than 2 weeks. IIRC standard Browning Invector are threaded the same and will work, but are not extended. What is really tough to find is a wrench for the Winchoke tube.

LOL dont be silly...:stirthepot2:
Dont you meen western no gun parts corp

I have dealt with WGP's a few times and they usually have what I am looking for. But I suppose if your looking for a door breaching Choke you may have to look else where. :stirthepot2:

I agree with you, but you should really not say anything nice about them, because they are not a sponsor.
