Hey guys, I just got a quick question. I hope some of you can help me out here. I just received my brand new AR, and the extension tube (is that even the right name for it?) is loose and I can wiggle it from side to side. My other AR's extension tube is rock solid. Can someone please help me fix this. Thanks in advance!

is it ROTATING from side to side (along the tube's axis)? or actually moving around at the end?

If its rotating, then its no big deal. Just find someone with an AR15 buffer tube wrench and tighten it up. (most gun shops and/or smiths SHOULD have one if they sell AR's or AR stuff)

If its wiggling around, then I'd be worried about the integrity of the threads.... If its loose enough already, you can take the buffer tube nut off, and take the buffer tube out and inspect the threads to make sure they dont look damaged.

Its rotating. So I need to find someone with a "buffer tube wrench" to tighten it? Kind of disappointing that I would need to do this with a brand new rifle.... Thanks for your help though its greatly appreciated.

yep, it just needs to be tightened up then. Must have slipped past QC or something.

You can get an AR15 "multi" wrench if you want, they are usually good tools to have around. If there is a shop around you that sells AR stuff they SHOULD have one, especially if they do their own gunsmithing work.

After tighteing the receiver extension nut down, have them stake the receiver extension nut to the receiver end plate end plate. That will stop the nut and tube from coming lose from rotating and coming lose.
