Hey guys, love this section of CGN just dont post in here as i dont have much expertise on the subject.
I just bought a third SKS yesterday. Tore it down right away to take advantage of the 25 degree weather we've been having out on the coast to melt some cosmo out of the stock.
I took a look in the gas tube to see how caked it was and noticed daylight coming in, not the 2 holes that are supposed to be there this hole is not round and was caused by where it was notched out at the factory at the muzzle end of the wood hand guard.
Sorry no pics it's right in the 45 degree notch where tube becomes narrower. My other 2 sks' are 49 and 52 and have no hole there This one is a 54 laminate stock and hardwood handguard (refurb piece) I'm not worried about it coming apart on me just hope it doesn't rob to much gases when I get around to shooting it for the first time.
Has anybody seen this before? Common? How did it shoot?
