Monday I decided to purchase a SKS from SFRC, it had a great price and they had 6 left so i figured why not? I went through the whole process and checked back to see the number of them left and it went down to 5, so I figured I had my new SKS on the way. Not so, today I received an email saying that they won't be receiving anymore Russians but they might get a shipment of Norinco's in soon, I've heard stories about the Norinco's being built to different tolerances then the Russians so my interest in them is little. I heard that SFRC was a great company to buy from but this experience has made me question there purchasing system, if you don't have it in stock, tell us on the website when we buy it! not 2 days later.

Usually they are pretty good must be a flash purchase by a lot of folks.

I think it's still a manual process to be verified by people though not an inventory connected system.

Unfortunately our online inventory was off by about 1/2 a dozen SKS's due to some in store sales and warranty guns that I forgot to take off the website. We informed you that the SKS was not available and offered you an alternative. I'm sorry about the stock error but unfortunately these things happen once and a while.

"We are sorry but our shipment of Russian SKS's are not being delivered and will not be available. We are trying to secures some Chinese Military SKS's please let us know if you would be interested."

Which I read as they didn't have the any in stock, so my point is that if they didn't have any in stock why post that they do. If they did and someone just bum rushed there supply I could see being a more reasonable excuse but as I said there were 6 in stock when I ordered

Understandable, will they be the same price and what's the ETA?

I've heard that the Chinese stock is shorter then the Russian, is this true?

See above. Mistakes happen, an alternative was offered, and I'm sure if you like they will hold onto your money and ship you the one you wanted when they come available again.

never trust wat it says on the computer for stock you should know better man.... these online companys are so busy that this happens often an i dont blame em for it good luck...im sure you will find i could tell you few places that still have em but ill respect the dealers

I've been in stores where 3 sks where bought by the time I went through check out after picking up a couple boxes of 9mm. I APPLAUD SFRC for contacting you to let you know their is an alternative and they are sold out.

Just a little rattled because I'm supposed to go to the range in the next couple of weeks and was expecting a rifle here in the next 2 weeks. Ryan has done a good job through the circumstance, good to see a company with some customer service even though I might have to go elsewhere in the meantime I'll probably go back to them. If you know of anywhere around the Calgary area that has fair priced SKS's let me know.

Perhaps they are Chinese surplus SKS' that have been stored in the army warehouse since the day they were manufactured back in the '50-'60's, they are way better than the refurbish Soviet ones and the new civilian Norincos.

Sounds like a fair and decent gesture by SFRC. They admitted the error and quickly tried to solve it. Kudos to SFRC, you can't keep everybody happy all the time.

CHINESE SKS RIFLES;
I hate posting in another dealer's forum (I apologize Ryan) but lets be clear and accurate about these rifles....
SEE OUR site for more info,

'These are the “real thing” they are military production SKS rifles, manufactured in the early 1960s for the Chinese armed forces and placed in long term storage, where they remained until Marstar purchased them a few months ago.
These rifles should not be confused with previous offerings in the market of Chinese civilian versions.
These Chinese military rifles have heavier stocks than their “civilian” counterparts,
they feature machined receivers and chromed lined barrels....

IN SHORT THESE RIFLES ARE: True military models.... They are brand new.... They do feature ALL matching numbers....
They are NOT refurbished.... They are NOT reconditioned.... They are NOT arsenal re-manufactured...."

THESE rifles were manufactured in a Chinese arsenal set up by and managed by the Russians.

If you go to you tube and see Civil Advatage, Rod does a rievew on the chinese sks's sold by Marstar
and He rates them the best of the best, maybe its fate that you did not get a russian one, but don't
turn a blind eye on the Chinese sks's they are more bang for the buck and they are super accurate.
I compared the Chinese ones to the Russian myself and I pefer the Chinese ones, the target paper confirms
what I said. You cannot find a better deal than Marstar... Cheers and good luck
