strange rule. don't you have police officers shoot @ your range at their personal time? how do they practice?
anyway, to your question, the closest thing I can think of would be zombie targets, unless your range also cares very much about zombie feelings. Lol..

Hey since my shooting range doesn't allow any human silhouette targets, what do you guys recommend for the target?

Crap - you did that while transitioning between DA and SA? Very nice shooting!!

Ha, thanks! I've been able to get those kind of numbers sporadically over the last several months, but never consistently. I believe the biggest issue I have is with is my visual patience. I struggle with letting my sights settle enough on the head shots, and usually blew my first cold FAST. I'm hoping I've turned the corner on that.

If I can speed up my manipulations (draw and reload), and the splits on my last four shots, I may be onto something. Lots more work to do!

I learned most of what I know from Earl at PLG, he has lots of experience with 226's and runs them as good as he does striker guns.

Langdon touched on DA/SA trigger control briefly in his tactical pistol course, and has some very good video's on the subject. I was shooting a Glock on that course though. His advanced course has a lot more info about trigger control and I'm looking forward to it.

As info, Langdon is now administering the F.A.S.T. in his courses and will be issuing numbered challenge coins to those that meet the standard (students who can shoot the test in less than five seconds with no misses twice).

Just in case anyone thinks this is easy; there are only 12 numbered coins issued to date.....

I've run this FAST drill at least a few times every range trip since you first posted about it. Unfortunately our winter has kept me off the range for the most part. My second run at it two weeks ago:
8.06
Glock 17 124gr
Raven OWB
Arcteryx atom lt

I really enjoy this drill as it's low round count, and seems to really help with progression of speed and accuracy. It has definitely humbled me though. My first runs were terrible.

It's good to see people trying it. I agree, it's a very humbling test. It takes fundamental components of pistol shooting and rolls them into one test with very draconian penalties for misses. It sounds easy, and looks easy when you see it in video, but it's a super hard test to complete well with consistency.

If you want to identify the top shooters in a group, I tend to think there isn't a more efficient test.

Thought I would give it a try again this year. I shot it five times, Started with a 6.13.

Two best times were a 5.06 and a 5.46.
Draw time on the 5.06 was 1.25 seconds. i was surprised with the draw times today as they were better than my draws with my M&P Pro. I may have to rethink the use of the large grip on the M&P. The 75 Shadowline has the thin grips and I like the feel of the gun in the hands.
