f&cking stoopid loud with a muzzle break.

so i took my 858 out today for the first time since putting on my new muzzle break:

And it was stupid loud. my ears were ringing with my muffs on.

I don't know if its worth it. Am i being dramatic or does anyone feel the same?

All muzzle breaks are loud (especially the ones directed backward). They aren't designed to suppress the flash or sound but rather redirect it in effect to reduce recoil and allow for better accuracy.

I honestly don't see the point of having one of those on a VZ-58, but s**t, people put them on their ARs... so who am I to say...

I hate the noise from brakes... it would have to be bigger round than 7.62x39 to be worth using one for me.

It was so loud that it was causing me to jerk the trigger and flinch. So I went back to the standard military issue one and been loving it since.

Muzzle brakes are good for quick muzzle return for follow up shots. It's a trade off.

I had the old Marstar/Czeck break on mine and didn't find it any louder. Maybe it's just the type of break you have?

I use one (the Czech issue type) simply because the fixed stock on my 858 consistently hammers the point of my cheekbone making shooting it unpleasant after a few dozen rounds. This only happens with an 858. Just a combination of poor ergonomics vs facial structure. The brake eliminates the problem for me.

I have a 3 baffle quick discharge brake which is loud, and the standard issue one. I'd have to say the standard one I like more, it's quieter, and still stops the muzzle climb sufficiently.
