F-Class Eastern Championships at Connaught

Ron H took the 900m FTR match on Sunday with a VERY impressive score in some hairy
switch conditions.(Even after having his eyes severely strained because someone dropped a fork.)
FWIW I've heard the flags are remote controlled by Range Command and the boys in there have a hoot moving them around and watching the line of shooters scratching their heads on the range cameras.
There are also rumors of hidden wind tunnel exhaust tubes strategically placed around the range under ground and are opened to create the "wind snakes" or better known as the NermBarber Vortexes.
Another rumor had someone run around the range at night thumbtacking the flag tips to the telephone poles and adding fishing weights to others.
Can't be sure what to believe .
Recovery has been slow......

Hell Gord, all is good so long as you don't swap out in the middle of the night nylon for the cotton flags! You need some heavy flags for the heavy winds! LOL! See you in 6 weeks.

Understand the Bawden "Bastard" flags will be hanging for the CFRC.
They've had sometime to "age" now and will lift before 4moa. Ahh but when they were brand new and still full of starch.........
CUthere.

Hi All
I would like to thank Barry and his team for putting on such a great shoot and a hugh thanks to all the sponsors. A big thanks to Ian and Paul at Robertson's composites, Paul for convincing me to weight my rifle the night before the match and finding out it was 6oz overweight and Ian for personally, with eyebrows raised, working on my rifle the next morning and bringing the weight under by 3oz. There was not a single piece of that rifle that came from Ian's shop! Ian you are great for the sport. Many thanks! We did not have to come away with hardware to be a winner. Competing with 35 shooters that all share the same passion, SHOOTING, we are all winners. On our 12 hr drive home, my friend and shooting partner discussed how we could improve our shooting skills and all the new toys we would have to purchase. All said and done, great friends, great times , it all leaves me longing for more. Gord, if you ever come East, you have a place to stay, besides I'd like to meet your third wife!!! Hahaha, cheers Ken

Norm,
So if I have more than 1 Vortex scope, I have "vortices" on my rifles.
Thanks ,I will try to be more elegant in my pluralisms.:)
Ken ,I'm not sure what the elegant pluralism for multiple x wives is ,but I would think
a simple "Xbroke" would suffice (you just have to understand the "X Factor")
Lets see if we can get to Gagetown next year.
Good meeting all you shooters from the "Lands of the Sunrise"
Regards
Gord

I used the .308 Lapua 154 scenars too, but my performance wasn't up to Ron's standard!

My 24" barrel and 2650 FPS just wasn't cutting it at long range.

I thought I was having some other mechanical issue, but I shot a 50 12V at 600 last weekend (on a TR tgt mind!), with all the same gear.

Maybe a new barrell...or maybe a new rifle!

Time to tip the powder jug a bit more Pete! Get that bullet up to 2900ish, and the sledding should improve. I'm pushing 210's at 2650...

Hi Jerry.
Didn't have the balls to shoot the .223 against such great competition. Still working on getting a load above 2800fps that will still give me some consistant vertical. Thinking of trying n140 next.

Been having some success with Varget. Not the fastest combo but plenty accurate with low vertical.

Several more powders to test even the new AR Comp.

Some have tried the N150 with success. Me, I am not too fond of Viht powders and some suggest they are temp sensitive. Some shooters had some very peaky results with it.

Will post my results in the precision forum as they develop. Love to hear how your testing goes.

Jerry

I'm with Matt.... way too slow for those bullets. You'd be transonic at 900M

Absolutely need to speed things up.

My rifle shoots those Lapuas so well it is scary up to 600, but I'll have to look for a node up around 46+ gr to stay in the game with my wee tube! :p
