F Class Nationals

I just realized this week-end that my FL dies is not enough for my new rifle...so i have to buy 500 new brass and will prep them few days befor Perry!!!

Fingers will be numb for sure!

Kenny

I count 254 rounds, including sighters and both team matches (which are included in your entry fee).

BTW there is a minor change to the course of fire Fri-AM, it will be:
2ss10@700m 2ss10@800m, plus a team match of 2ss10@800m

Hi Daniel,

Where i can find the last complete course of fire?

thanks

Kenny

Prime-throw-seat-load-bang.... what could be so hard about that?

Oh I just remembered, you're F-Class..... a bit higher hurdle if you want ammo good enough to win, eh? ;-)

I hope you guys have a fantastic shoot at Perry; I'm sure you'll do us proud.

Until it gets on the DCRA website, here it is (a .PDF file on googledocs; this is what you will receive as a printed programme book when you get to Ottawa):

2012-FCNC-programme-DC-003.pdf

Edit to add: main changes to note are Friday morning (the shooting is at 700m and 800m). You can also see the aggs and prize structure, daily schedule, etc.

RESENTATION OF PRIZES
The formal presentation of the Trophies and Medals of the Canadian F-Class National
Championship will take place in the Marquee on Sunday August 19th 2012 at 0900 hrs.
Winners of both individual and team events are earnestly requested to attend. All trophies
and all first place Gold Medallions with event bars will be presented at the Prize Presentation.
Notes:
1. Persons intending to have their prizes presented, must be dressed in a manner
suitable for the occasion. Shooting gear is not acceptable.
F CLASS MATCHES
Two divisions of F-Class will be offered, F/Open and F/TR.
F-Class targets utilizing “5-V” scoring will be used. A special “F-Class Patch” will be applied
over a standard “DCRA 1997 TR“ V-bull ring, to yield an F-Class 5-ring and V-ring, roughly 1-
MOA and 1/2-MOA in diameter, respectively.
TIE SHOOTS
Due to the timing and scheduling of these matches, it will not be possible to conduct tie
shoots. Countbacks will be used, and in the event of a match still being tied, the Match
Committee will be asked to resolve the situation.

Kenny,

Did you try a small base die? If you need a place to reload for Nationals when you get back to Ottawa let me know, you're welcome to use my bench, etc.

Scott

I was going to suggest the same thing Small Base die. I had the same problem a couple weeks ago and ordered one from you friend at x-reload.

Trevor

was up until 2:30 last night prepping and priming brass. fingers are still numb...

Heck Matt, you should have sent some of that out here ... I'm sure I could have found some 'help'. If short on time, I could have always kept your new Lapua and sent some over-pressured Winchester back!

See you in a couple of weeks.

Gee- thanks. Always nice to see a guy make such a selfless offer :p

You coming to Ottawa?

Yes - for the F-Class Nationals only ... short on vacation days this year, with the 2 weeks at Raton. 6 coming from Alberta and 1 from BC that I know of.

Is it not possible to give prize at the meet and greet, because they will be probably a lot of us who will depart after that myself included (not that I intend to win :) )

I hope people don't leave as soon as the last shot is fired on Saturday. After three very full days on the range, I would guess that most people would be quite tired and a lot more interested in spending some time at the Meet'N'Greet (where we will have TR and F-Class shooters) rather than driving home. Also the meal is pretty darn good.

- The overall "schedule" of the match is five days, of which three are workdays (travel there on Wednesday, shoot 3 days Thu-Fri-Sat, then travel home on Sunday).

- The stats might or might done be done by then (Meet'n'Greet is about 1h30m after shooting finishes)... I wouldn't want to set the schedule so as to require everything be done by then.

- a proper prize presentation deserves the full and undivided attention of the audience; if you've won something, it doesn't seem right to me if half the "audience" was chatting with somebody. Likewise, running a prize presentation during Meet'n'Greet would interfere with the Meet'n'Greet.

You might not intend to win ;), but I wish you every success and I hope you do!

Odd question - is there any sort of equipment check or registration requirements before shooting (for example: the westerns have weigh in and package hand outs the day before shooting)? Or do we just show up ready to lie down and go bang at 8am on the Thursday?

Just trying to make sure I don't miss anything procedural before I begin officially missing everything that scores ;)

The isn't an equipment check prior to shooting, though your equipment is subject to random checking, protests, etc. There will be a scale available for you to check things.

Most people are arriving Wednesday. The DCRA office will be open until at least 7pm on Wednesday evening, when you arrive you should check in there to pick up your registration package (which includes the Programme book, your match tickets, etc).

If you can't pick up your registration package on Wednesday, the DCRA office will be opening at 7am Thursday morning, for last minute arrivals to get their packages.

Note that "0800" means the first shot will be sent downrange at that time. You must show up at least 15 minutes prior to that, in order to be squadded and given target assignments.

We now have 43 entries, and have capped the event at 44; it should be a good strong solid competitive field of shooters. I hope you enjoy the match and have a great time at it.

Is there a confirmed round count? I put total sighters at 34 and total on score of 205 for a total of 239. Does that sound right (not counting potential shoot offs or zombie-pocalypse).

I counted 239 as the minimum as well, but I'm planning on loading 260 just in case.

I'm surprised they are letting us go off at 8; normally we can't start until 9 or the folks across the river get a little upset.

Safe travels to everyone coming in from out of town.

Cheers,

Scott

Think i will go back to bench and load 260 just incase I was to get lucky and get in a shoot-off with you FTR Rookie

Ammo comes in 50-round boxes, don't ya know.... so load 300! ;-)

(BTW that round count looks good. I have taken a bit of flack, which I acknowledge is deserved, for exceeding 215 rounds. What's magic about 215 rounds is that that's how many .308s fit in the 5kg IATA limit on ammo you can take with you when flying).

Until last year we started each day's firing at 0900; since last year, on Saturdays and Sundays we have to wait until 0900 to start firing, which has put a real crimp on our Sat & Sun shooting schedule.
