F.N. Fusil Mle 1924 .22 Mauser trainer value?

Looked at a "like-new",minty one the other day. Apparently only 1,000 made in early 1950's. This is one of the grey metal finished Belgian Navy models. Not much info out there on these and coming up with a realistic value even harder. Anyone have one of these nifty trainers?

So far only I know about one other person in South America with one. Nice find if you can get one. Army version is more common, in comparison. but still a tough find. I know a Mauser collector about an hour and a half drive from me with the Army version.

Hey Geoff, I have one in the blue finish not navy grey. Suppose this makes it army issue? As for value thats difficult. Would depend on if I was buing or selling. Certainly $1000 dollars seems a lot I was going to throw in $750 as a ballpark.......

This is my favorite .22 trainer. I imported it from the US with Questar a while ago:

Thousands of them were made, but I've never seen another one in Canada.

I get the sense that 22 Trainers are a very niche market. The guns are hard to find when you want them, and hard to sell when it's time to sell. Price is accordingly difficult to assess as it's "what the buyer/seller is willing to pony up" when the time comes. Is it worth $1000 to you? Do you have a buyer lined up who will pay you more, or will the buy be on spec?

You got it Andy. People who are crazy for trainers will pay through the nose for them but the buyers are few and far between. I paid nearly $700.00 for a Mosin Nagant trainer that sold a few years ago in the USA for $150.00.

My extremely rare Vetterli trainer has yet to find a new home despite its scarcity and history. There just isn't demand for non-German stuff!

Agree. Market sucks in general lately so I'm trying to make sure I really want something for the long term. Have a few Ross Cadet project/parts-guns but wont bother listing them until things pick up.
Thanks for all the input on the FN trainer. I'll see how things go and will post pics if I get it (eventually). It's a cutie, but not top of my want-list I guess.

In my gunrack is a rather nice Mauser ES 350B "Championship" model.
Unfortuneately it's rather loose in it's factory wooden stock. But it did come with a fiberglass stock, which is not eye appealing, but is a solid platform for shooting.
Right now a Weaver T-10 sits on it with high rings to clear the bolt handle.
The metal/bore is in excellent condition, with a little bit of plum color just starting, located on the last half of the reciever. A friend once shot a 3/4 inch group, from the bench @100 yards using this 1940 made smallbore.
Extremely worthwhile, especially considering I only paid $325 or so for it.
