In the rules for F-TR they state SAAMI - CIP chamber dimension spec.
Is this only governing the chamber/case portion or are they also talking about freebore length and neck dia and such, AKA having to use a SAAMI spec reamer, and not being able to tweak the throat/freebore to best fit the particular bullets being shot?
Are we stuck to a max loaded cartridge length of 2.800" or can a heavier/longer bullet be seated a bit further out so long as the chamber throat fits it?

Just part of the debate and details I'm trying to figure out before doing another rifle and deciding what I want to shoot in it.

thanks

They are only referring to the portion from the neck and shoulder junction down. You can have a tight neck and any amount of freebore you need to shoot the bullet of your choice.

Here's a good article from Salazar on Palma which closely applies to loads and chambering for FTR.

That is correct. Here's how the rule reads:

T2.4. Chamber Dimensions: Must fall within the envelope defined by the SAAMI or CIP
minimum and maximum chamber drawing for .308 Winchester or .223 Remington as
appropriate. Bore, groove and throat dimensions may be selected to suit the bullets used. A
throat diameter smaller than the diameter of the bullet will significantly increase pressure
and should not be used.

Excellent, Thanks, I kinda thought we could tune that part of it but wasn't 100%, I see I was reading the wrong set of rules again as the one I was on didn't have that added bit.
I'll get a few bullet types to get my numbers and likely get a special reamer made for what I got in mind, weird load so we'll see if it pans out.

I'm looking forward to the next season and want to get my stuff organized early on, hoping I might have time to put something together during Christmas/new year.

I ordered mine from Pacific Tool and Gage. If you call up and ask for Dave Kiff he will tell you about the FTR Reamer - it's the one most of us are using including the US F Class Team.

About how far out does that one set the lands roughly?
I was gonna order from Manson as I got great service from them before and the reamer was excellent, but could try PTG as well if its an on the shelf thing for them.

thanks
