To not paste entirely from another thread, though I thought this deserved its own spot.

When put upon the top rail of the Fab Defence Vz-58 poly-rail, there is observed significant wobble with the Eotech 516. Far too much to even consider zeroing. When placed upon ANY other rail aside from the one located at the top and the tightened, it becomes rock-solid. What gives guys? Am I doomed to shoot this gun sideways? Help a brother out (I promise pictures).
 
to tighten it up bend the front tabs of gas tube out at the bottom and squeeze the rear of gas tube. Then to get even better return to zero put release agent on upper handguard and fill up the 4 slots on lower hguard with accraglas then reinstall tightened tube and let glass dry afterward it should be rock solid
 
It actually isn't the hand guard itself. It's the rails. I'm surprised how solid the setup is but when I try to get that Eotech onto that rail, it just shakes, rattles and...Well. I hope to God it doesn't decide to roll. If push comes to shove, I'll try changing out the mount on the Eotech. I need to get it lower regardless...

Do the bottom Allen keys indicate the length of the underside of the mount on the Eotech? Looks like it's too far back?? IMHO.

I am not sure if I remember it correctly since it was a while ago but I believe the cross bolt on the Eotech is thicker and doesn't reach the bottom of the rail's cross cut.
I believe I had to mill a wider cross cut at the point where the cross bolt was to sit on the rail.

I'm starting to think that too. A shim is currently providing good stability for my optic. It is a little high, but a chin-weld is better than no-weld. Until I try her out to see if it will hold zero, I'm in the dark with this one. Until then, thanks guys.

K for all of you holding of on mounting your eotech to this rifle. I just did it today and its 100% soild like a rock! there are two little clamps located on the bottom of the mounting bracket that you need to bend forward. Then remount and repeat this process in little steps!

Also be careful when reattaching the eotech back to the so that you don't over tighten the screws and break your lens like I did.:mad:

My top rail is extremely tight, I am actually hoping shooting it will melt it a bit and loosen it up for cleaning. I guess the rail itself though is out of spec.
 
I know thats why I try to only shoot non-corrosive ammo through mine. I think they did that on perpose so that if you mounted optics on it the would never be any movement.
