Fabarm MartialPF or 870T/Valtro PM5

I have long arms so the Valtro fits me perfect. But you can get a folding stock for them and a Grenade launcher that attaches to the barrel like a choke it's a factory option.

Can the stock on the Valtro be shortened (cut etc)... I found it too long. LOP

no... its completly hollow when you take off the butt plate.

and yes the Valtro's are butter smooth out of the box... compaired to a new mossy or 870 you would think the factory put a handfull of sand in the actions.

I've had both the Valtro 14" and Fabarm 14", also 870's. If they ever get the shipping right at Canadaammo i'd try the mag fed 870 copy or wait for the 8.5" mag fed to get here. As far as Valtro vs. Fabarm goes, Fabarm is the highest quality tactical shotgun by far but the Valtro has the coolness factor down pat with the 7 round mag. You can get Fabarm's all the time, Valtro's pop up a lot less (took me a yr to find a used one) i'd almost always go with the harder to find gun, you'll have a conversation piece at the very least. Performance wise Fabarm fell apart on me and had to be fixed and Valtro wears quicker than 870's/Fabarms i think.

Accuracy Plus in Peterborough has a nice little 14" 870 copy in stock right now... Think it's a Norinco? They've always treated me well... I think you'd be very well off with the 870 though, I've owned dozens and never had a failure of any sort with them. Lots of cheap parts too....

I was at the Longueuil Gun Show today manning the CSSA table and somehow ended up buying a Valtro, which I'd never even seen before. I like & own military-type black & green rifles so when I saw the Valtro, I was hooked. Picked it up new for $775 tx in. Did I do ok?

A joke, eh?

Oh well, my 18.5" 870 Tactical "Joke" Express rocks- accurate and eats anything. It hasn't let me down yet. I guess the "joke's" on me.......

had alot of 'tactical' shotguns. My FABARM Martial 14inch will never be sold. I changed the pistol grip out for a regular stock and she is a perfect fishing buddy.

thats a fair price for a new one... paid a little less for mine slightly "loved".

watch out tho... its easy to pay more for mag's then you paid for the gun.

Del's and frontier seem to have a good supply of Valtro's

I'm a fan of the 12.5" Grizzly...hard to beat the barrel length and price combination. I then proceeded to do what some of you may think is foolish, but I spent around another $400 on it by sending it for some TLC from Casey at TacOrd. He smoothed out the internals, parkerized and painted it, and installed Wilson Tactical ghost rings, as well as replaced the foregrip. I then put a Knoxx SpecOps stock on it, a Mesa sidesaddle, and an aluminum follower (OK maybe more than $400 total...) so...

I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I love the simplicity and parts availability of the 870 platform. If I were doing it all over again, I may start with a better base model like a used wingmaster so I didn't need to have the internals cleaned up, but in the end, I got the short barrel and all metal internals for under $300. The short barrel from alone from other sources costs about the same.

Re

Go with the Fabarm unless you can find a Rem 870 P-Max. I have a P-Max and they are by far and away one of the best pump action shotguns I have used. Fabarm are very well made. They are also owned by HK.

The Fabarm is the way to go... much nicer handling than both the 870 and the Valtro... and seems to be just as good quality as the Valtro.

The Valtro and Fabarm are both fine Italian crafted firearms with superior, alloys,Carbon steel and finishes. I believe both are produced in the Valtropia Vally.

really? i put over 75rnd's thru a Fabarm and the damn thing just dident fit me very well... seemed awkwardly nose heavy to me... the build quality is nice on both the Fabarm and Valtro but there agin its a semi VS pump thing... the Fabarm flunked my cold weather testing at a balmy -15, with winchester value pack ammo it turned into a rather expensive bolt action.

for what my crapy opinion is worth I have a rem 870 express and I like it.......I have put about 80-100 rounds through and I have only had 1 failure to feed and 2 phase two stoppages.
SO FAR I AM IMPRESSED.(phase two also called double feed)

Yes...

The difference is it fits me perfectly... and the semi's are heavier than the pump. The 14" pump wit PG stock is balanced perfectly for me.

Excellent quality on the Fabarm...

Almost all semi SG's fail with Winchester White box... the Fabarm Martial Comp I had never failed when I had it, and I expect the same with my Pro Forces... but they are both pumps.

I was just checking prices south of the border for Valtro's. They are now fetching $1250 to $1450 US. Thats for the 20inch models. Not bad considering they only cost $399US in 2001. their handguns back in the day where $1200 new and now are $5000 to $15000.

I dunno about you but for myself, three stoppages in 100 rounds is a problem. Especially if your life depends on it. If my Valtro gives me issues like that, it's fixed or it's gone. I own an 870 by the way. I've done $hit to that shotgun that you wouldn't do to a farm animal and I've never had any sort of stoppage. Ever.

By the way, I found out that there are a few variations on the Valtro, and I imagine that the cost is different because of it. Mine came with a 14" barrel, pistol grip and adjustable ghost-ring sites. It looks awesome....but I am biased :p
