Fabarm problems

I used my fabarm pro forces today for the second time and am getting a bit frustrated with it. The first time I used it I shot 200 of the Winchester universal #4, I had several shells jam in the chamber after firing so making it very hard to rack the slide. I also had several double feeds. Today I used up 100 Winchester universals and 100 federal target 7.5 stuff, out of the 200 only about 10 didn't double feed and probaly 50 jammed after firing. I would have to hold the forend and hit the but on my thigh to dislodge them. Oh, and I've had to replace the mobile ejector pin and spring because the spring was damaged and the pin was missing when I first took it apart to clean it. Anyone else have these issues?

I would never buy those Universal shells again - horrible. The aluminum base expands way too much so they get jammed up in the chamber more often than others, especially if your chamber has a tight tolerance for shells. When mine gets jammed up I'd have to wait for a brief moment for it to cool off, and if I"m lucky I can pull back the action and it'll eject...

Check with TSE in Calgary - they're the supplier of Fabarms in Canada and can probably give you some help on the matter.

It's hard to say no to $28 for 100! I guess I might have to suck it up and try some of the fancy stuff but my wallet doesn't like it.

Im sorry but if a Norinco hp9 has no problems with cheapo #4 then IMO a shotgun that costs 3 times as much shouldnt either. There is something wrong with your gun.You should get it looked at.

That's the part that burns my a**. I paid good money to have no problems at all. Live and learn I guess.

I have shot a few Fabarms and love them. But honestly, my cheapest Grizzly pump shoots those bulk under $30 for 100 boxes without an issue.

I have also shot them in my much more expensive Mossberg 590 A1 SPX and 870 without an issue.

Let us know if this gets worked out.

I'm sure I can fix the double feed issue by modifying the "cartridge retaining latch" but I'm not sure I can fix the jamming. I'll have to have a closer look at it and do some research. At the moment it's a very expensive single shot!

Cheap aluminum based cases expand and bind up in all kinds of shotguns. Try some other ammo and see if the problem persists.

I do have good luck with buck shot and slugs but there more than $1 each. To rich for my blood! I did get rid of 30 3"magnum slugs today but it hurts the wallet(and the shoulder). I'm going to have to reload I guess.

That's why I bought it, I read a lot of reviews and everyone had good luck with theirs. I still like the feel of it better than othe shotguns I played with, just got to sort out the bullish!t. I did buy it used so who knows what abuse it suffered before I got it. I was told it had hardly been used at all but who knows.

Something is wrong with it. Have it looked at by a good smith or send it to the shooting edge. My martial proforces never had issues with the cheep stuff.

So it's only mine, I had a feeling that would be the case. :( I have hear stories that good gun smiths take months to get to each job. Summer is hear and it's my only gun so I'm left doing it myself. I did buy it from a store, on consignment, just about a month ago so maybe they can help.

Thanks BBB, if I can't sort it out myself I'll give him a shout. I ordered a new "cartridge retaining latch" and follower today. It looked to me like the latch was just touching the very edge of the shell so when the next shell in the magazine slams into the latch it just pops over. I tried taking it out and bending it up a bit but it would then hit the follower when the magazine is empty and prevent it from cycling. I bent it back down a bit to allow it to cycle and it cracked:( hopefully the new one fixes the problem.
Tv-presspass, I can't watch the video(iPhone) just shows up with a x through it. Was yours double feeding or jamming? What parts were replaced to fix it? Thanks for the replies:cheers:

Hmmm, my cheapo semi auto didn't have any issues with that crappy stuff ;) :D

Before you back the Jeep over it, get it to a smith. If you are having issues finding one, let me know. The boys at Epps are always good to help out when in need. :)

The first thing that comes to mind is a rough chamber. Have a look at it and see if there are any burrs or machining marks. If there is, then a quick polish might do the trick. My Benelli is chrome lined and mirror smooth from chamber to muzzle and has never had a shell so much as resist extracting, and Ive fired more different kinds of ammo through it than I can remember. My Maverick 88 had a rough chamber and sometimes shells would stick, mostly magnum stuff.

What do you use to polish the chamber? A cylinder hone?
Plink, I keep thinking about that hatsan eating the cheap ammo no problem, it doesn't help. That said, everyone else with a fabarm seems happy so I didn't just pick a bad brand I just got a bit of a lemon. I'll get this thing all sorted out one way ore another.

A quick update in case anyone has the same double feed problem. I bought a new cartridge retaining latch ($15) from tse and put it in tonight, I've been cycling snap caps and some empty hulls for a while as I watch tv and have not had a double feed yet. Fingers crossed I'm thinking it's fixed.
