Fabarm problems

Yup! That was the same problem I had, except I was sick and tired of monkeying around with punches and had Stefan from TSE do it for me :p

I ordered $350 worth of interesting upgrades for my fabarm today so hopefully I'll have something fun to report back with in a few weeks

A quick update in case anyone has the same double feed problem. I bought a new cartridge retaining latch ($15) from tse and put it in tonight, I've been cycling snap caps and some empty hulls for a while as I watch tv and have not had a double feed yet. Fingers crossed I'm thinking it's fixed.

Cool. Glad you got it fixed!

Mine wasn't clearing the last hull properly, but after i field stripped it and cleaned it, no problems. I am falling in love with this gun.

I got it out to the range yesterday, warmed up the shoulder with a hundred or so rounds out of the sks. I put 15 slugs down range without a problem(except a sore shoulder), I ment to try a bunch of cheap birdshot to see if that would work ok to but I forgot. I think I was afraid to pull the trigger after the 15 slugs anyway;)

I think i have the same problem, how hard was it to replace that part. and if you could give some pointers that would be great, thanks in advance.

Im sorry but if a Norinco hp9 has no problems with cheapo #4 then IMO a shotgun that costs 3 times as much shouldnt either. There is something wrong with your gun.You should get it looked at.

norc's dont have near the tolerances the FABARM's do, of course they will fire anything

replacing the latch yourself can be something of a pain. you need a pretty tiny punch to get the latch out and the spring underneathe can dissapear under a work bench faster than you can facepalm

Cheap aluminum based cases expand and bind up in all kinds of shotguns. Try some other ammo and see if the problem persists.

Yup. That cheap universal junk jams up my 870 as well. I usually slam the butt into the ground while holding the forearm to eject the round. Gets awfully annoying when you are trying to blast a bunch of clays.

You can probably fix this problem by polishing the chamber.

I found it to be a very easy job, take it down as you normally would for cleaning, instead of a punch(which can damage the aluminum because of the angle you need to come in on) I used a hook and went in from the bottom, with one finger on the latch I used the hook to push the pin out just enough to make it stick out the bottom. Keep your finger on the latch and pull the pin down with pliers just enough to release the latch, (if you pull it all the way out you'll have to reinstall the retaining clip which holds the pin in). Take the latch out being carful not to drop the spring that's on the back of it and put your new one in. If you want better instructions let me know, I'd be happy to help.

thanks for all the help, today i ended up swinging by tse, and stephan did it for me in 10 minutes, total cost of 34 plus gst, and i came home a happy shooter. thanks again for the reply.

I would never buy those Universal shells again - horrible. The aluminum base expands way too much so they get jammed up in the chamber more often than others, especially if your chamber has a tight tolerance for shells. When mine gets jammed up I'd have to wait for a brief moment for it to cool off, and if I"m lucky I can pull back the action and it'll eject...
Common you cannot say no to $30 for 100 or $60 for 250.
