Hello all. I was over at target sports today looking at shotguns, originally I was there with a Remington 870 in mind but I ended up playing around with some fabarm pump shotguns. I have almost no experience with shotguns but to me they felt amazing. What do you guys think of them? Are they worth the $700ish compared to the marginally cheaper 870? The one I liked had a rail on top with ghost ring sights and a pistol grip (tactical?) stock. Thanks for your opinions! By the way I have no practical use for one, I don't hunt or shoot trap/skeet, I just like cool looking shotguns for plinking.

I think that may have been the one I was looking at. I really should have paid more attention! I was in a state of sensory overdrive looking at all the toys and can't remember the name of the model I was looking at. I might have to go back tomorrow.

I've got the 14" Pro Forces Martial, pistol grip and ghost rings. Huge fun, several hundred rounds so far, no problems. Nice build quality, has a better "feel" than an 870 express. I even got the extended full choke for it and used it to shoot a turkey last year.
If there's a negative to it, it's simply the fact that there is relatively little in the way of aftermarket goodies available for it, if you decide to modify it.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I guess if I get it I'll have to get the tinkering out of my system buy building my own less than lethal nerf dart flechette rounds
just kidding, that would be illegalOn a serious note, I'm completely firearm free and I think I just need something that's ready to go. I've been practicing my combat rolls for some time now and there at a level now that it would be a shame not to put them to use.

If you like the feel of the Fabarms pump shotgun but are reticent about the price, you may consider examining Hatsan pump shotguns. They are a high-quality shotgun at reasonable prices built upon the Fabarms FP6 platform, and can use Fabarms parts. I believe a Rem 870 mag extension also works on them, as well as a few other parts. Much cheaper in price, but not in quality.
The price doesn't offend me to much, a 870 police with a few toys on it is up there too. I liked the one I looked at as is so I don't forsee having to buy a ton of accessories except for a shell holder of some form(bandolier) and a sling. I think I'll head back over for a second look today, if I still like it as much as yesterday I'll probabley buy it next week. Given that these are non restricted am I right to assume that if I buy it I can take it home right away? Or are there more hoops to jump threw? I guess if I buy at target sports I can test drive it on there range too

Escort is just a Lic copy of the fabarm shotgun made in turkey, well made but just cheaper.
The Tri star cobra is the same gun just much cheaper made, i would not buy one of the tri star guns. Marstar imports them as the thomahawk.

I had another look today and am more confused. There is a martial and a sdass version that look the same, even after referring to fabarm's website no one could tell the difference. Some are marked 12 g 3" and some are marked 12g NATO 3". Again, I'm not sure what the difference is and there isn't any mention of it on there website.
