I had one of these 9 years ago when TSE was bringing them in. I loved the look and feel of it. Fit and finish was impeccable, and I thought it was awesome to have a “tactical” shotgun with a short barrel that was threaded for chokes.
However, it was horrendously unreliable. I had every type of malfunction imaginable. FTF, FTE, and it would sometimes eject a shell from the mag tube out the loading gate and onto the ground. I ended up returning it to TSE and got my money back.
I’m not sure if I just had a lemon, or if the first ones coming into the country had issues.
So this morning I had a video pop up on my YouTube feed today where they were raving about their love for the STF-12. So it got me thinking about maybe giving it a second chance.
Does anyone here own one of these? And what has your experience been like with it?

Not sure if the version I had is still available. From what I’ve seen the 11” barrel with collapsible stock is what’s being sold now. I’d prefer what I had, the 14” barrel with folding stock. IMG_1438.jpegIMG_1437.jpeg

I don't own one but they've always impressed me.

I have one in 11". No issues with function at all. Main annoyance for 11" is that the muzzle brake vents gas downward into the mag extension and mars it, so I no longer use the muzzle brake.
I also like the Martial as it's a lot lighter, but has a bit more recoil.

I had two over the time, bought all of them used, 11" both of them, older and newer version (mainly stock was different). Both were super slick and reliable, top quality stuff. Not a single hiccup. I just could not justify having another modern shotgun I don't use at all. So I sold them. Then the gentlemen that got one of those two reported issues with shell stop / interrupter that would require a service.

My buddy bought one used - it had some problematic permanent mods in feeding system, he had to get rid of it. He then bought brand new one - it was shaving the metal inside the receiver while racking. Got it replaced.
So go figure.

Ive had several and put a fair amount of rounds through some of them, they are exceptional guns, somehow you got a bad one, first ive ever heard of that, my sons is also flawless

The triangle stock is hot. If I saw one in a weaker moment I’d probably snatch it up. Last thing I need is another funky short shotgun.
“What?!”

They had/have a lot of features for the price point. I particularly liked the removeable top rail and option to switch out to a folding stock. That being said I had FTF problems and sold it. Despite that I could be tempted to try it again.

Agreed. I loved the look, fit and finish, and all the features. Especially that it was threaded for chokes. But it was by far the most unreliable pump gun I’ve ever owned. I had a 870 express that was more reliable than my STF-12. And I know for a fact my issues weren’t ammo related. Didn’t matter what I ran through it. It was a jamomatic. And for whatever reason it would dump shells from the mag tube out the loading gate and onto the ground whenever I tried to run it fast.
But dam! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better looking pump action shotgun.

I was also surprised at the how good the ergonomics were for such a short shotgun, at least for me. It handled and felt really good. Fit and finish were really A1.
