I am looking at buying a Fabrique Nationale SxS Shotgun made in Belgium. It is pretty old and in rough shape but still fires fine. Stock has been glued together at some point but might be a good project gun. Only one ejector works but both extractors work. Maybe a broken spring?

Anyways are these any good? Looks like I can grab it for about $100.

Edit: I have bought this gun and pics are on page 2 and I am looking for any info anyone might have on it such as year and type etc

It would be prudent in all aspects not to go for a firearm in such condition as you described.....if you are able increase your budget then tradeexcanada.com
has tons of good/servicable sxs starting from $250+tax ..... just need to sift through the lot in order to select the one you like.

I guess I shuld be more clear as I am just looking for information on FN (Fabrique Nationale) firearms more than advice on whether or not I should buy it. I will have to be the judge of the condition and whether it is worth my time and effort to fix it up as a hobby once I see it for myself.

Anybody own a FN shotgun?

Does anyone have any info on Fabrique Nationale Shotguns or a link to some info? I bought that one and can't find any info on it.

It is:
SxS with ejectors, 12 Gauge, double triggers, safety, not sure on age and can't really find much more info than that....I can't even find info on FN Shotguns at all!

Sounds like you've already bought it!! Or at least that you've made up your mind anyway......:p

Anyway my buddy has one in a similar sounding condition. We've shot it quite a bit. Works good!. In my stupidity i actually managed to discharge both barrels at the same time somehow and it never blew up in my face! kicked like a mule tho lol.

Why are you so set on the FN that you know nothing about? I'm not trying to be an ass just curious! Some sort of sentimental value or something?

Anyway i hope it works out!! For $100 what do you have to lose! Good luck!!

ah i see you did buy it! shoot it yet??

Yeah, shot about 200 rounds through it already and it seems pretty good. Just can't find much history on the darn thing..wouldn't mind knowing how old it is.

Nice well that's sweet you know it works. Maybe post some pics or something, if it looks like my buddies maybe i'll show him the pics, he might know something...... or somebody else on CGN. I'm interested to know more too!

Sorry pics aren't the best quality, i will try to get some better ones up here soon.

Cheers

Please use the macro switch on your camera.

Dating Belgian guns can be problematical because of the blanket-coverage age-related proof marks, but we can have a go. FN have a well-documented set of inspectors and their terms in office, so the crown and letter stamp, apart from the crown over R, will prolly put you in the ballpark for a rough date, even if it is only a decade.

Take a few shots under the barrel as well please, as well as better shots of the water-table that you have already done.
