Just ordered the new Fabsports M14 Receiver Scope Mount. (Pictures are available at Fabsport the new items section). When it gets here, I'll let you all know how it looks and if it works well... ( I'll include Picts).....:D

That was fast - the web site shows sold out -

That VLTOR stock in the photo gave a raging dinger. I still want one. My project has been on hold because I have no money for tools and parts. :(

Needless to say, I won't be picking up a rail and this mount for a while. :(

Interesting...if you ran a riser from the Ultimak or whatever back to the SC mount you might have a pretty solid setup, although it might be getting pretty high.

I would be pretty hesitant to just throw a ring on there and a ring on the Ultimak and scope between them though.

It works - I do it with the same design - both the AKM (bridge cut off) and the Sage - (no bridge).

Works just fine - thousands of rounds. However, I did med. lock tight the stripper clip mount tightening screws.

I also mounted a Leuopold Prismatic Tactical on just the stripper clip base only and it also worked fine.

You are a braver man than I...I could not bring myself to bridge that gap with a scope tube. I picture all kinds of horrible stresses being placed on the scope.

But it's totally possible that would not be a problem. I just don't have the stomach for it myself.

The barrels whip around so much on these things when they get fired...

I am wondering about variations in UTG rail height measurement?

I measured my three Norc 2007 models, and my three measurements were consistent. Before final tightening of the hand guard, I smacked the UTG down nice and tight, front and back. I also squared the top of the rail with the top of the receiver, and centered the BIG mounting screw hole in the side rail mount with the SMALLER screw hole in the side of the receiver, before tightening up the side screw, and then the four screws on the barrel bands.

This procedure seems to locate the UTG rail consistently for me on all three of my receivers.

With the UTG forend design, the rear end is held only at the side, so some rotation of the entire handguard out of true vertical alignment is a possibility, if the barrel band screws are tightened up first, and the side screw tightened up with out centering/aligning the side mount screw holes, and tightened up last???

I also wonder if there are any differences in height between the step at the barrel [ 1.1" approx ] to receiver. Do we have any numbers for this dimension???

ANY M14 UTG railed handguard "extension" or add on, depends on consistent rail heights at the front of the receiver, and proper hand guard rail rotational alignment for perfect alignment of the scope. If there are variations in the Chinese receivers, rather than variations caused by inconsistent mounting techniques, then I will have to add in some adjustability to my UTG rear mount design. While this could be done rather easily, I would prefer NOT to have to do this, as my design philosophy has always been,
"KISS",
"parts left out cost nothing and rarely break",
and " one piece that does several things things is better than several pieces".

So if I can make my UTG rear mount add on,one piece/ monolithic,
AND make it a universal fit, I would be happier.

Feedback would be appreciated ...
and how is the field testing going with the Fabsport clip guide UTG rear extension mount??

TESTS using an expensive scope to bridge two separate mount locations on an already notoriously hard on scopes M14, is something I really would like to hear about from others first.
of course,
