Fabsport New M14 Receiver Scope Mount

Well It's here, got it yesterday, once again Frabsports shipping dept did wonders.....;) Now got to find that video on how to remove the stripper clip adapter. Once I viewed it a few time to make sure of the proper procedure, I'll take the Millett DMS-1 and YKM Cantilever Rail off and proceed with the installation....

:D

Well the operation on Sheila went better than expected. I watched the You tube video twice to make sure i got it....

First had to remove the YKM Cantilever and Millett DMS-1 of off Sheila, next remove the USGI Stock.

Next came the pin that holds the stripper clip guide, what a surprise, one tap from hammer and punch and it fell out, ok so flip the receiver over so I can remove the stripper clip guide, like every body mentioned get big hammer and it, No way.... It came out by using two fingers - out towards the left the video said........

Now the installation of the Fabsports M14 receiver mount.... Again it was simple, slips on easy. To make sure I had proper alignment, I used a cleaning rod section, once the receiver mount and cleaning rod are align it would give me a rough setting. All that is needed now is to fine tune witch I did by looking true the scope and lining my front sight with the cross hair. This should put me on target. Probably need to re zero the scope.

My crude way to align the mount to the UTG tri Rail system...

Last removed the scope and used the set screw to lock the whole thing down. (did not use lock tight - I'll see if this was an error);)

Everything on and ready for the range...

Now Sheila has a new setup and need more ranges time......:D

Anyone have an update as to the strength of this rear unit when used with the Tri-Rail and a scope bridging the action?

Or anything to add to the use of this rear mount ?

So far, I've not had a chance to take Sheila to the ranges to zero the Millett DMS-1.

The adapter is solid ? made of steel( doesn't feel like aluminium) and black in color, I found no sharp edges on this sample.

;)

So are you the only CGN'er who managed to get one these? Would be good to hear from others for a proper review

I'm not sure, must be the lucky one on CGN....;)

The only thing so far that would need to be remedied on the next batch, would be to include a U channel Like the UTG Tri Rail has in the center of the unit so one could use the battle sight if required. my 2c :D

M-14 Rail

Just wondering, as I am about to assemble all the parts I have been gathering for my M-14. Would a rail extender on the rear of the UTG mount work for scope mounting therefore eliminating the need for the mount in the stripper clip dovetail or a rail riser attached to the Fabsports part and the other end to the UTG rail. This might give protection from shell deflection but would increase hight 1/2 inch. Is this making the scope too high? I am still waiting for my scope from Allen GW so I cannot try that last missing piece of the puzzle. Any thoughts ?
