Facebook Group "Canadian Reloading room"

This doesn't surprise me. If you are not friend with the admin and have a disagreement with him... The group is not inclusive at all either.

I'm not a friend of his. I've had a disagreement with the mods. I'm still in the group. It's really easy to stay a member. Just follow the rules.
No pictures of anything to do with guns. Ammo is fine.

Edit: because people will make assumptions, I do follow the rules and I am still in the group. However I can say I observe and this is how the group appears to me.

While I was personally blocked by him I was never kicked from the group. I try to offer advice and be helpful, it's kind of confusing sometimes since conversations I can only see one side of are often happening. I could care less though, it's just the Internet and life goes on.

Their no pictures of guns rule is ridiculous. I'm on many other groups that show LOTS of pictures of guns and their are never any problems.
The admins on that reloading page seem to like power tripping.

Where was also a ton of groups that got shut down for gun pix or gun sales. I was a member on a few of them.

any one ever join and converse in that group? I attempted it. Posted a few things, got climbed all over by the admins and threatened with being banned a couple months ago for asking a question about legally importing reloading components into Canada from the US. Any forms i might need to fill out, people who i could call etc. So i deleted that post. Didn't get an answer. All i got was a talking to by the admins for asking that sort of question. It left a sour feeling with me but i never really thought about it agin, didn't have any reason to go ask anything since and never really thought about it. Then today i asked what bullets the members suggest for use in a Savage axis with a 22 inch 1:9.25 twist barrel and the post got deleted a few minutes later for some reason by Facebook. So then I figured it must be the gun talk. I mentioned the word rifle and the word bullets. The words must have triggered something. So i posted again with a picture of the engraved info on the side of the barrel. Calibre, rifle make etc and got jumped all over and yelled at (with caps) for posting pictures of a firearm. So i deleted the post and left the group. Oh my god what a bunch of weird, off balance bunch of Fuds. I am left sitting here angered and saddened at the same time. Because we should be helping each other. Not making the hobby undesirable and un necessarily complicated. I help people whenever i can. I send parts sometimes free of charge. Help with whatever knowledge i may have to offer. I have never judged someone by the type of firearm they want to use or what they wanted to do legally with their property. Why do people have to turn on each other like that over something so innocuous.

It is a private group on anti gun social network. Leave the group. Start your own group. Move on.

I know that. They were "for sale" groups not "picture posting" groups. I understand what they are doing there but they are heavy handed in their approach sometimes.

Reading this thread reminded me to go delete my FB account from years ago.

Apparently I already had that thought at some point and deleted it.

F'n FB...FU MZ!

Maybe if you are just stopping by to say how you don't use Facebook don't bother..? This is about a certain group within, not how you are such a rebel you don't use one of the most popular forms of social media.

Getting back on topic... It looks like one of the admin stepped down today. Too bad as he actually seemed like a nice guy. Just gave away three brand new reloading presses through a draw.

Gave away is a stretch. He sold several thousand dollars worth of tickets, and then "gave away" a couple thousand dollars worth of presses. He's definitely a nice guy, and from what I know, him and the group owner are still great friends. His decision to step down largely stems from the fact that other admins were deleting some of his comments due to complaints from other members. He threatened that if another of his comments was deleted, he'd step down. He was very helpful, but some of his comments were found to be extremely offensive, and thus they were sometimes quickly removed.

Yes, I'm friends with the admins, including both the group creator, and the admin that stepped down. They're still great friends, they just agreed that their views differed enough that it was time to split in order to remain as friends in the end.

As for the pics of the barrel, the firearm and so on... had a chat with a number of members, and not a one of us can remember what post you're talking about. Their no photo rule is simple, they're a reloading group, not a gun photo group. They want to keep the group about reloading, ammo and so on, not yet another group to sit and review firearm photos. They survived the facebook purge, and they're steadily growing, so they must be doing something right.

Generically speaking everyone is bound to get offended by anything. The thin-skinned shouldn't go out where the big boys play ;)
