Looking to find any dealers other than Wolverine and Wanstalls with factory 300 AAC Blackout in stock? Preferably in the GTA.

Or if you happen to work downtown GTA or willing to ship at my expense and wouldn't mind selling just 1 round, send me a PM.

I'm just trying to evaluate whether or not my new NEA barrel is a dud.

Thanks!

Dunno, I got to wait for the ammo to ship. Hopefully this week. I contacted NEA but no response as yet. Probably getting caught up after SHOT. From the 300BLKTalk forum, the consensus is my barrel might be a dud and verify with factory loads.

None of my made to Sierra & Hornady spec reloads will chamber without the bullet hitting the lands. I think the leade is cut too short but could be just me. The only way ammo will chamber is if they are under 2.052" or 1.468" OGIVE. Hence the reason why I'm buying a box of factory ammo to verify that. If factory ammo won't chamber, we got a problem.

NEA got back to me and said to verify it with factory ammo as well. On another forum, 300BLK shooters are making ammo 2.2" etc with no problems chambering them.

Go figure, my one and only NEA purchase may turn out to be a gremlin BUT I will hold final judgement until I can do the factory ammo check.

Looking at the picture of your formed empty case in your chamber leads me to believe that your not forming the shoulder back far enough on the case, this could likely be the result of using a shell holder that has got ears that are to high and are contacting your die body before the case is inserted far enough into the die.

This has been a issue for many people who have been trying to form brass on a progressive press but was resolved with some serious cam over of the ram, if your forming brass in a single stage press what shell holder are you using? mainly brand, as this may just be a compatibility issue between the die/shell holder rather then a quality control issue from a company with a past history of quality control issues

I don't know if it helps you in the GTA but I've seen Remington .300 BLK at Wholesale Sports.

Best of luck with the barrel. I don't understand though why given all the bad press (and notably, a discernable lack of GOOD press as well) that folks still chance NEA and put themselves through this.

Running off a single stage press with LEE dies and Lee shell holder. Cases were sized, rotated 90 degrees and resized again before final trimming.

Hornady LNL case gauge using 350B insert measures 1.060"-1.064" to the shoulder compared to Barnes Vor-Tx factory ammo which measures 1.062" with the same gauge (this from my research and image posted in the reloading thread, I do not have that ammo on hand so I'll take that measurement with a grain of salt).

Cases trimmed down to 1.358" in keeping with SAAMI specs and also Hornady's recommended trim length.

Case neck width with a 155gr SMK and 155gr AMAX is 0.332".

From Hornady reloading manual, 155gr AMAX seated to 2.220" COAL. Ammo does not chamber as it hits the lands. Needs to be seated to 2.052" COAL to clear the lands and fall freely (or light tap) from chamber.

From Sierra reloading data sheet, 155gr Matchking seated to 2.105" COAL. Ammo does not chamber as it hits the lands. Needs to be seated to 2.05" COAL to clear the lands and fall freely (or light tap) from chamber.

From all my measurements, I think my cases are sized within SAAMI specs BUT again, hence the reason to confirm this with factory ammo. Go/no-go gauges have been ordered as well and should be here in a couple weeks.

I'd gladly accept the fact that I'm wrong 'cause trying to find a replacement 11" to 12.5' 300BLK barrel is like finding a unicorn.

We should probably move this to the reloading thread in keeping with the Ammo guidelines. :p

what was your parent brass fired in and are your lee dies small base dies? It just doesn't make sense to me that your formed cases will not sit flush regardless of the bullet hitting the lands at this point, you have issues at both ends of the cartridge..........

The cases were originally 1x fired from my AR. They were taken from my stash of cases that have all be resized with a RCBS small base die before being cut down and resized with the Lee 300BLK dies.

The only way to get the ammo to chamber is if I force it in pushing the bullet into the lands, then I have to tap them out from the muzzle end.

So everyone still suspects that my formed cases, despite all the measurements being within SAAMI specs, are still the culprit because that barrel can't be out of spec? I hope that's the case 'cause I don't want to have to wait 2+mts to get another barrel. :p

I think Dragon Lube said they have some, but I can't find them on their website.

Thanks, I bought a box from Wanstalls. Cost me $50 with shipping and taxes for 20rnds. Gonna have to treat those like gold! lol

I am not trying to rule out NEA or have any grounds to want to............I have however been made aware of issues when forming brass, and if it is something a simple fix on your end can resolve then it's a win win.............

You can get a 300 blackout modified case and case gauge from Budget shooters supply in links above. This will help with sizing the brass and oal

It's all good. I want to be sure I'm not screwing up along the way. I'm new to 300BLK and forming my own cases.

I've just uploaded my forming and measuring process. Have a look and let me know if I screwed up somewhere or if my measurements are off.
