Dropped by my local Home Hardware today for a box of ammunition. $28 for 20 30-30, which is bad enough, but I noticed a couple of restock boxes of everyday .30-06 Winchester for $43.99 per, sitting next to last yea'rs supply of same at $31.99.

Is there something I don't know?

Thing is Maynard, I live in a wide spot in the road in rural B.C. and it's the only place to buy ammo w/o driving 150 miles. Just wondering if there's some huge price jump in the works from Winchester.

150 miles isn't that far, I have driven that far for powder. I guess your choices are, stock up when you are in town or mail order.

prices are brutal, I work in a gun shop and it pains me to put a $85 sticker on a box of Winchester 325 WSM Accubonds. The stuff *should* be $50 tops...not to mention other scary prices like $35 for 308 Power Points & $70 for federal premium 7mm Mag Tipped bear claws

it's terrible - don't get me going on shotgun shells...

Thanks guys. Very weird. It's going up faster and higher than a barrel of oil. Hard to see it as a response to metals prices or conflict. Maybe it's a just another of Wendy and Millers plots....

Read the US gun Blogs, they are constantly moaning about the increasing prices of ammo also. High commodity prices and high inflation are the culprits in my opinion.
