A question for you .454 crazies- Where's the cheapest spot for factory .454 Casull rounds? I'm the proud new papa of a .454 Puma lever, I'll most likely be putting .45 Colt 10:1 on Casulls through it, I just want a couple of boxes for sh%^s and giggles.

You shouldn't be shooting 'oddball' cartridges without reloading them. Cost and availability are going to be very limiting. I.E. you're going to look long and hard to find loaded factory ammo, and when you do find it, you'll have to sell a nut to afford it.

On the other hand, you could probably reload 454 casull for less than the price of factory 45 colt

I'm sure you could save a bundle reloading for either the .45 or .454, most cost effective would be Cowboy action cast bullets in the .45 and hard cast in the .454 costs range from .08 to .20 per bullet, do the math on the powder and primers and you'll quickly see how you could save alot!

I shoot at least 1000 rounds of 454 Casull every year out my handguns and now that I also have a M92 Puma rifle the numbers has increased a lot...

I couldn't even think about factory loads the cost would be prohibitive... :(

Then again I can't get the same fine tuned from 240gr to 405gr performace from factory loads either...

When I got my first 454 Casull handgun I bought a box of 20 300gr Winchester JFP's I still have more then 1/2 of them left...
