Hey guys, I am shopping for my first Chiappa lever action rifle and am a bit confused by the Taylors & Company versions. I am specifically after the Alaskan in 357 Mag. I have seen the Chiappa model 920.385 selling new for $1699 while the Taylors & Co. model LC1/220094 is up over $2k.
Based on what I gather about Taylors & Co., they primarily take factory firearms and enhance their functionality and aesthetic. What they do exactly, on the 1892 Alaskan, I am not sure. I have emailed them asking for clarification but not received a reply as of yet.

Does anyone know definitely whether or not there is even a difference between the two?

Barrel length, believe 16" is Taylor & Co exclusive, but stand to be corrected. The Chiappa in your link is 20'' it looks like. Have also heard that the T&C guns are inspected more thoroughly than 'common' guns, and some have trigger jobs. Don't believe this model does. The Taylor's are really nice, $500 nicer is up to you.

I did not post a link. Both versions have 16 inch barrel and are aesthetically identical. Tried calling Chiappa USA distributor but they are closed today.
