Factory handguard and USGI Stock?

when some fibreglass stocks come available, some people want to sell them with a matching handgaurd. is it worth it? is the original norinco handgaurd wood?

All Springfield Inc, Norinco and USGI stocks have fibreglass handguards. I believe Boyd's aftermarket stocks are also available with wooden handguards.
 
I have Springfield, Norinco and USGI handguards .......only the USGI is fiberglass , the other two are most definately plastic imitations of the real thing. The USGI fiberglass handguards are slightly thicker and heavier than the Norinco or the Springfield copies and show a little of the fiberglass strands on the edges. Mike
 
if you have to pay extra for a "matching" handguard for a synthetic stock i wouldnt bother. just spraypaint the norinco handguard to the color you want to match the stock, most people end up painting their usgi stocks anyway.
