Hi guys,

I thought I would put this out there to let more people know about this.

I asked John from marstar if we could bring in a shipment of factory 18.5" barreled m14 rifles and he said he could (they already have them shipped to new zealand) as long as he gets a shipment of one thousand of them. Now I think in order to get this to happen we need to show more interest in it, so if you are interested, please go to this thread http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=600595
and say you are interested in it so that we can get these things here ASAP.

Thank you for your time,

J

Any more details? What's the price? I appreciate what they do for the shooting community but man.. the wait times (and this is true for more than just Marstar) are just too much sometimes.

I'm a typical buyer.. when I want something I want it now. I don't like waiting ;)

Regards,

yea I am the same way, but saving a ton of money on a shorty would be nice for a starter m14.

the damn rossi ranch hands got delayed again and i was expecting mine early this month... :(

it will probably take a year or half a year to get the m14s here I would expect (i dont know the actual times). but they already make them for new zealand so they just need to send a thousand of them over here :p

Dont know about prices yet, as john hasnt said much other than that he can get them and he needs to bring in at least a thousand.

I assume this week or next week he will have something to say.

I wouldnt mind getting a factory 18.5 " to go with my longer version , but like the above poster said .. wait times of a year or more ? constant delays etc im not putting money down until i know its a sure thing ..

Marstar doesn't charge you until the rifle has shipped, no down payment is required.

I bought one of the first batches of Norcs for $400 when Marstar started bringing them in. Called them up and left them my info. They called me back a few months later to let me know that the rifles were ready to ship and was I still interested? Of course I was, best $400 I ever spent. Would have been that much sweeter if it came with an 18.5" barrel. I ended spending over $300 on an aftermarket 18.5", throw in a USGI fiberglass stock and I've spent more on accessories then I did the gun. If they bring these in with synthetic stocks an 18.5" barrels it will make an already outrageous deal that much sweeter.

i'd still be intrested in one, but i'd like to have the end of the barrel /flashider configured to fit the current m7/m9 bayonet series- there's just something wrong about a 14 without a bayonet lug, and the norinco version of the springvield bush rifle ( the m1a-1a) would be just about the c/a- if you don't know what that is, it was an m1a shortened to 18.5, folding stock, and a special flashider on the end- open birdcage like the early m16s- i've almost given up on the italian made m14s - i fear i'll be in my grave before they hit these shores

Nobody makes a barrel config for the M14 that fits an M7 bayonet. If you have a USGI pattern 18.5" barrel that accepts the regular M14 front sight/flash hider then you can easily install a USGI flash hider that will take the M14 bayonet.

marstar would have zero troubles selling out of a 1000 units. I'm sure John knows this as i would bet over 50% of that order would go to dealers. It's what i would call a "no brainer" and with the huge amounts of guys popularizing the shorty norcs done by riflesmiths in canada already.... it just shows that there is an equal number of consumers that want the shorter version.

My guess would be that they do not currently make a canada legal, less than standard length barrel such as an 18.5" . If thier tooling and inventory is currently geared for an 18 it may be some time before we see a special run of barrels made to satisfy non restricted laws.

I proposed this in the original thread in the marstar subforum and what i would suggest is that Marstar commisssion a run of 18.5" barrels ONLY. There are so many of the 22" version here already, adding a factory 18.5" barrel to an existing rifle would be the most cost effective way to go all around, for china, for john and for the many gun nutz who would jump at the chance to not have to buy a whole nuther rifle.

i KNOW that- i have 3 of the real thing and they all have m6s - however, since we're talking of NEW manufacture AND NOT SOME COBBLED TOGETHER ,it would be fairly simple to add a flashider of the right configuration- ie a little thicker casting and a differnt style of lug- something like what was used to mount a bayonet on an xm177/car15- and before you say the car/xm series didn't have bayonet lugs, i have PICTURES that show they did- prototypes, but they are there-

i'd buy one in the 600 dollar range for sure, IIRC the factory shorties that went to new zealand have the 18'' barrel, that wouldn't work for us, so a 18.5'' version might have to be one off, which shouldn't be a problem for chinese, except for turn around time....

We are still looking forward to the regular M14/305 to show up !!! What kind of time frame are we looking at !!!! JUNE year unknown !! d:h:
Dont get me wrong i think they would sell fast ,but when would they be here.

As I previously posted. Count me in on 18.5" Shorty with possibly the Digital Desert tan stock. This black one of mine sucks as far as i'm concerned. Same flash hider/bayonet lug okay.

I won't pay a cent extra for the over tightened barrel package.

We await their arrival.

this would be awesome.. unfortunately the people who bring them in in NZ charge a whopping $100 more for the current indian food and oreos spew pattern stock.. i can only imagine how much worse a nice looking digital stock would be worth according to them

when one lives in canada, and his interest is firearms, one must learn patience or he will go nuts fast
