Why would companies like Sig have facotry threaded barrels on some of the pistols? Would it be for the option of a silencer which are illegal?
 
Keep in mind that silencers are not illegal everywhere - only in countries in which Government feels the need to treat the general populace like immature children.
 
Yes, silencers are not illegal in many other countries. Furthermore, most firearms companies offering such services are not making products directed at the sporting public civilian, they are primarly making it for servicemen.
 
it sure would be nice to shoot the pistols all day without having to use earplugs...
I heard that in the UK silencers are part of WCB regs for people who use firearms... prevents hearing loss. Wonder if it would fly here?
Does anyone know if its been contested in Canada? whats the history of it here?
They always ask when we have our hearing tested if we shoot, and if so which side we shoot from... so it shows they know it can cause problems.
Is it something we should try and have passed?.. Private members bill perhaps?
 
A private member's bill to amend the Firearms Act and Criminal Code to legalize sound moderators? Do you really think that that would have a snowball's chance in hell?
The slogan could be: "If it saves only one person's hearing...."

I wouldn't mind having a silencer but you just know the government will argue just by saying wear ear plugs. They are a hell of alot cheaper then silencers.
