Factory Vs. Reloads for Personal Defense

AWESOME FUN!!! I am not worthy.

I am happy with my 45 silenced. It is real quiet. Cocked and Locked mirrored my opinion about subsonic 9mm.

Actually we were trying the revolver silencer as an experiment. Our theory was that a semi opens to eject the casing too and since the DW revolver allows you to thread in to minimize gap at the forcing cone; it might be effective. The can will go on with an adapter to the unique DW threads. If that doesn't work, I can adapt it to a rifle instead.

Either way, I would be happy to trade you. Great pictures! Thanks for the links and intel. I need to get my camera to the range and get some pics. Then I need to figure out how to post pics on here. I tried it once before and gave up.

find yourself an old russian nagent revolver. It moves the cylinder forward to seal on a barrel extension when it fires, eliminating the cylinder gap. That should be doable. Otherwise, I have to agree with the not worth the effort exept as an experiment. By the time you got the cylinder gap tight enough, I suspect it would foul and jam the cylinder in a very few shots.

Cocked: Sorry you just happened to hit one of my grumpy buttons.

NP, I'm in the trades and nothing winds me up quicker then "experts" telling me how my job works. Again, thanks for the chance to learn something new, and add to my knowledge base.

Just thought of something as I typed this. That .500 whisper (neat family of cartridges by the way, wish I lived in the states:( ) Would it be similarly difficult to silence? Again large bore diameter? I imagine you can get away with a longer can/more baffles on a bolt gun where the weight won't impact function as on a pistol, is that the solution?

A slightly overheated silencer on an M249 (Minimi) machine gun.

:dancingbanana: A silenced SAW, man, wouldn't that solve the neighbourhood stray cat problems:dancingbanana:
